I first saw the Bud Clydsdales in the mid-1950's...I was riding my bike on a Saturday morning in my neighborhood in McKalester, OK ... And suddenly, walking down the shady street was the Clydsdales and wagon and drivers and dog....They stopped and allowed me to pet the horses and the dalmation dogs...It was like a private 5-minute interaction just for me,, a 6 or 7 year old kid!

The dalmatian on the wagon though! 😁😁😁 Tail just wagging away like he's the start of the show! So funny and precious! I love the clydesdales, to the moon. Since I was a little girl I've lived those big ole plow horses. My grandpa's neighbor who was just a stones throw from my grandpa's farm had two clydesdales (I remember them being called plow horses), and I used to hike over to the neighbor and ask if I could pet his plow horses. He'd always take me over to hug them and give them a sugar cube or two. They are so doggone tall! The neighbor had to pick me up so I could give that hug. He was so good to them. He groomed them everyday too, and every couple days they got the full bath treatment. Cool horses.

They were bred in Scotland in the 1800s as a workIng ShIre Horse. I remember them bringing the coal to my house in the 50s. Ploughed the fields, used as drey horses to pull the beer barrel's to and from the Pubs and Ale houses. One of Scotland's bank's is called the Clydesdale after the Horse. So, I'm pleased these magnificent beasts are from Scotland. Greetings from Edinburgh🏴

@@victoriabardsley8097 easy! They chop the bony part of their tail off at the base at an early age so they never have to deal with long tails again! Don't worry, the horses never go outside so they don't need their natural tail hair to act as a fly swatter anyway.

This comment section makes me sad The tails are docked for safety and those horses are some of the most well taken care of horses I've ever seen there are millions of people actually abusing horses and y'all are worried about these well taken care of beauties
@rmoenmjea4 жыл бұрын
Tail docking is still cruel! You can easily braid them up. You literally remove part of their spine by docking their tails!
@itsallgood40934 жыл бұрын
It's just an old tradition that should be done away with. You could either braid the tail or keep the hair cut shot.
@SobrietyandSolace4 жыл бұрын
Not going to lie, t leaves a really bad taste in my mouth as much as I love the fact they are carrying on a tradition still using these beautiful horses that have been part of this company's history, however even horses who participate in FEI extreme carriage driving at high speed going around complicated courses and tight turns don't have this done to them. Braid the tails, cut the hair short, bunch them up into a harinet even, but don't cut them off.
@itsallgood40934 жыл бұрын
@@SobrietyandSolace even though these horses are better taken care of almost any animal on the planet, I see little reason to dock their tails.

I once knew an older woman, Jean. She was 92 in 2010 so I'm not sure if she's still alive. She was born and raised on a farm in Sasquatch Canada that raised this phenomenal horse! They were working horses that were sold to other farmers. She showed me pictures of her riding one of the horses to school. Also, I once saw the Budweiser Clydesdales and they are indeed giants!
