I want to be a Anesthesiologist sooo badly. I’ve been working so hard and have been studying, grinding, cramming, and packing my days full of learning. What I’ve been learning is incredible and facilitating and something that I would dedicate my life too without hesitation. I’m only In high school but I’ve wanted to become a doctor for 5 years and I get more passionate about it with everyday! This is what I want my life to be like! I don’t care how much I have to sacrifice to go to med school or how long it could take me to get I to a desirable school. There is a part of me that is really terrified what will happen because parts of me doubt my intelligence and if I’ll ever get there but another part of me is extremely exited! I will never ever give up my dreams on becoming a doctor! I can’t wait when I can dedicate my life to my passion and fascination! No matter how many punches life throws at me ( even if sometimes they feel like gun shots ) I will never give up on my dream.

@@sundrin4481 so I wanted to be a doctor when I started college but I didn’t even know a PA was a thing (back in 2009). Because I knew no one in the field. A friend of mine wanted to be a PA (she’s a NP now instead and the other one isn’t in medical at all) and I looked it up and knew it was perfect for me but.. I still shadowed a physician and multiple PAs to make sure. So that’s definitely something I recommend. I’ve been a PA for 3 years now (working for 2) and I love the field. I wasn’t a fan of my first job which is why I left a year ago but it’s the actual job, not the profession. We even had multiple physicians leave that job when I did. I’m currently looking for a new job as we moved states. Biggest thing for me is lateral mobility. I started in family medicine and I would love to go into general surgery next.

I love watching videos like this for 2 main reasons. 1: I wanted to be a trauma surgeon all through elementary school and 6th grade. 2: This past year now I’ve constantly been in and out of hospitals due to severe scoliosis. I had my spinal fusion surgery in January, a week and a half before I turned 13. I love getting to see the other side of the spectrum where I can see the experiences of all kinds of doctors or people who will be doctors. It’s so interesting to me seeing as they are the people that quite possibly saved my life. You’re video was so entertaining as well as informative and I genuinely loved watching it

It worries me how all of the medical students and even doctors on youtube (and other social media) always describe how tired they are and how much caffeine they need... being chronically tired is worse than being drunk for decision making.
@DanithePA3 жыл бұрын
We’re overworked, that’s for sure! Any solutions?
@flygirlhandm3 жыл бұрын
@@DanithePA I think the solution is for everyone to actually admit the problem (seems that the entire system and even the doctors/students themselves are pressured into pretending it is ok). Then slowly but surely change the entire medical system in America. Put massive amounts of government money into changes over time that make sense (updates in technology to stream-line processes). But most of all, HIRE more people... have more nurses. Create new jobs that don't exist but make sense. For example, I went to a doctor once who had a medical student as a note -taker during the appointment that was doing all of the paperwork. That seems like a job that should just exist already: "professional medical note taker" that are taught about medical hygiene etc., but are very skilled in assistant and secretarial work. I think huge pressure has to be put on the system for these types of changes to be made. I really wish the current medical teachers and career doctors would try and push for these changes themselves (the way that they do in the airline industry... you don't sleep, you don't fly). Actually the airline industry is the perfect example. You could almost copy and paste their rules. I foresee a HUGE lawsuit (something involving huge amounts of money) in the next decade that focuses on how bad being chronically under-slept is for doctors. Maybe a giant study that really highlights the medical errors being caused by being sleep deprived. Maybe then actual change will happen. p.s. Sorry if my tone sounds annoyed. The irony of medical professionals constantly telling everyone how important sleep is, but then not sleeping themselves is frustrating. Not frustrated at the individual doctors, more at the system that allows this to take place. I think social media has made this issue more obvious. Thank you for what you do personally.

i’m starting pa school this year and i’ve always wanted to do surgery but this seems a little nerve wracking! what advice would you give on how to handle the nerves of rotations?

just know that you are a student! Nobody expects you to know what you're doing. Try your best & thats all anyone can ask for

This is my dream, currently doing my BSN but hoping after a few years of experience applying and coming a PA in the OR!

@@lauran1962 I thought I was gonna be an NP and was already on course with nursing and currently already in school for it. But through school I met some p cool PA’s so I started to do research & realized PA sounded much more me than NP. PA schools want u to have experience in the health care field anyway so I’ll gain some experience then go 🤷🏽♀️

Serious question- when I was interviewing for PA programs I often read women are underrepresented in the field, but i kinda disagree- i see (and work with) an astounding amount of women PAs and almost every faculty member at programs I had interviews with were female lol
@dez8922 жыл бұрын
Data from the National commission on certification of PA shows that 69.3% of PAs are female, so your observations makes sense!

actually, the majority of PA students happen to be female. I forgot the exact number, but i think it was close to like 60% female.

@@MidasCat yea i really dont understand where this statistic comes from. I never see a source, year, etc on it but EVERY program i interviewed with used it as an interview question..

when i was a student at Internation University at my Country as a nurse school i felt so complicated of learning with medical terminology and take time to do more researching and sleep 6 hourse a day and the most difficult thing is when i was internship' nurse at the provincial hospital and no time to relax when a rotation or nightshift coming .i knew that feeling it is sensational .
