It is quite perplexing that the trout are not feeding when there are so many flies on the water. Beautiful day in Ireland though, and I Love that boat. Thanks again.

Great boat Otmar has. You'd think at least the small fish would hammer all these flies, but never happened.
@allansmedley23616 жыл бұрын
Well done, Mr Butz certainly has a beautiful boat. No Cigars??????? I don't mind a cigar but certainly would have a pipe!!!!!
@DietrichBohnhorst6 жыл бұрын
Otmar surely smoked his pipe.

Nice video - Would you ever consider spinning or using lures for trout on Lough Arrow ?
@DietrichBohnhorst Жыл бұрын
Thank you, sir. Never entered my mind to use anything but a fly for these trout.

Is the Mayfly Inn in Balinafad still going? One other thing Dietrich, if I might impose, do you know are there any boats for hire on Lough Arrow? It used to be one of the most spectacular views in Ireland, rounding a bend in the Curlews' and there was Lough Arrow spread out before you. The last time I traveled that road I went looking for it on the old road. The spot was full of round bales.
@DietrichBohnhorst6 жыл бұрын
The Mayfly is still open, I think; alas the Bow and Arrow at the other side of Lough Arrow is closed long since. That view is still there, travelling the byroad, coming Boyle way.

Another delightful clip of yours! Why Lough Arrow? As far as I know that lake hosts a prolific pike population, and trout are quite reluctant to rise to a fly even in a solid Mayfly hatch, because of their fear beeing eaten by the predators. There is a big lough far nearer to your location where good trout cause havoc amongst prolific hatches of mayflies, and heavy bags are possible plus an extra chance of a fresh run grilse. You know which lake I mean?
@DietrichBohnhorst6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Klaus. No, I don't know which lake you have in mind. It is some sort of an annual pilgrimage of Otmar and me to go to Lough Arrow.

Bibio and Invicta. The fish took the Invicta.
