I lived at 16 York Street, while attending CRGS in the (boys only!) fifth and sixth form. I was always late for school..."headwinds", "stone in road" or "held up by highwayman" were my excuses, , recorded in the "late book" (less than two houses away). The best of times...although not the very best, according to conventional wisdom. My growing up in Clitheroe and attending CRGS (Clitheroe Royal Grammar School) set me up for life. A life I have so far, enjoyed immensely and there is more to come. Every day. I spurned the pressure to attend UNI and became a black sheep. Daily, I refer to my life in Clitheroe and attending CRGS - Wonderful memories and the template for my modified existence 🙂

Has not changed much since I went to that dreaded grammar school in 1975. The memories came flooding back. Living in New Zealand since 1981 .. blessings

Hi my friends 👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻👍 !! Thanks for this delightful, interesting tour of Clitheroe ✅. The well structures are most interesting. I am pleased that I now associate the name Clitheroe with this information, footage and photographs - rather than memories of ‘The Clitheroe Kid’ on the wireless 😅👍 ! Cheers, Don 🙋‍♂️ !!

I have lived in the USA for over 21 years but I’m still a Lancastrian. My mate and I ( sadly now deceased ) used to ride out on many a Sunday, through Clitheroe to the trough of Bowland. Bittersweet memories.

Hi David and Michelle. Interesting old town. It looks to have survived quite unspoilt across the years! I love those old ghost signs on buildings 😁 All the best and take care 👍

Nice one guys. A really relaxed vibe on this one - and a good tour of the town Some cool original features - loved the rings for the horses outside the pub. I wonder whether you could be charged with drunk riding? The wells are interesting. I can’t remember seeing something like that before. Lowry must have liked that place, the architecture in some areas there is straight out of one of his paintings. Really beautiful. We’re going to be doing a lot more travelling this year. Love the way you do these - it will make us research the history and architecture of places before we go not just when we’re there. Have a great weekend David and Shell

Hi 👋 hope your both doing ok. It was a good afternoon having a look at the old buildings, we try to do a bit of research before we go but there were still some old buildings we couldn't find anything about. Bet there were quite a few drunk riders trotting back home ! Looking forward to your videos again. Have a good weekend David & Shell

By a really strange chance, I've just been doing some research on the houses on Church Street, and I noticed that you included a view of number 21 at 4.56. From what I've been able to find out, it was the home of a man who was one half of a cotton spinning partnership in the 1850s/60s/70s - but I haven't yet found out who the initials on the date stone refer to. (Maybe one day!) I notice you got the rain during your visit . . . which is about right for Clitheroe!

Yes, but where does the water come from to that well? Top of the hill is the church graveyard. So you wouldn't want to be drinking it.
