I've been into ADTR since about 2009 when my friend introduced me to Homesick. Of all their songs, this may very well be my favorite. It's really unique - super catchy, aggressive, displays the great vocal range, somehow melodic, and brilliant lyrics.

Amazing song from an amazing album. The variety in songs is fantastic. So many bands, especially this genre, have albums where front to back you can't distinguish between songs because they're all the same. Adtr has a range, and they're fantastic at both heavy, mellow, and everything in between.

I think it means Life at 11 as in life at 11 years of age. Or maybe 11 years in the music business (because they've been official since '03, so it makes sense)
@StarRimmedGlasses11 жыл бұрын
maybe it could mean literally what it says..life at 11...like 11pm at night...feeling like a slave to voices. could be talking about self hate depression or fear, but also the line that says as long as you let us we'll make you the person you aren't, or you gave me strength to stand, could be meaning trying to help someone out of their own personal darkness. ??? I dunno just taking some guesses, that's what I kinda "imagine" when i hear this.
@Daywew11 жыл бұрын
StarRimmedGlasses Idk though cause this whole album is dedicated to how fucked up victory records is and I can hear that alot in that song "hey you your gonna be a star, as long as you let us we'll make you the person that you aren't" I want to say that the name of this song as some type of significance to that

What is the meaning of "life '@' 11" ? Sorry I don't get it :x
@fuckyouman948 жыл бұрын
I look at the meaning of this as him telling the viewpoint of somebody who is 11 years old (just elaborating on all options, the song mentions dirnking so probably not lol) but I would most likely say it's supposed to from the viewpoint of a teenager, maybe 14 to 25 years and even older, at 11pm who is down and reflecting on life. I go with the latter because i think it makes more sense, personally because i have anxiety/depression, but the lyrics in this song can apply a variety of mental illnesses. He takes the viewpoint of somebody around that age group (14-25) who is dealing with some sort of mental illness, as well as having dealt with an even greater (possibly greater, unknown/irrelevant?) mental illness / physically real thing such that is traumatizing in the past.The lyrics say things such as "I'm still afraid, ashamed, of whats behind me" and "I'm a slave to all these voices in my head, and I'm afraid of what they've said". The song goes on to emphasize the singer having some kind of mental illness by saying things like "Sometimes when no ones left to listen, i'll sit and argue with myself, say all the things i wish to tell you, without hurting someone else". This stretch of lyrics is basically saying he keeps going on and obsessing about things even to himself when everybody else has gone home, or whatever (relating to the title of life @ 11). As well as talking about the anxiety and worry about other's feelings when knowing pieces of information about them that they're sensitive about. He's dealing with a weight on him everyday from all this stress and anxiety, by writing "Shake it off, i'll bottle the shame...and no one will ever know" suggesting he is turning to alcohol regularly to cope, hiding it, and it could be the sign of a problem. He then continues by quoting the lyric "hey you whendya get so cold? hey you, do what your told!" Him being cold is caused by the ongoing stress/anxiety/pressure of people and the following lyric is kind of ironic because the people telling him to do what he's told are asking him why he's cold before (even though they partially made him that way by forcing him to listen). The last lyric I mentioned, is perhaps the part that gives the most accurate descirption of the songs meaning. The lyrics have a very personal aspect to them, as the people telling somebody (Assumably Jeremy, the lead singer) that he's gonna be a star. This is probably timeframed around ADTR's rise before fame, vocalizing the people around Jeremy. As well as the last bit, "we'll make you the person that you aren't" suggesting that the people who helped Jeremy and the rest of ADTR get to the top (record labels, managers, family/friends for support) make Jeremy and the others a completely different, fake person, all for profit. Meanwhile, this has severely negative mental impacts on the boys and it comes out of them at night especially, and that, is life @ 11. Sorry for my probably over-analyzed explanation of this song, excuse any typos, very tired. TLDR; Song is about Jeremy and the ADTR members on their rise to fame, and the stress/anxiety caused by life and the pressure of the people around them on the way to fame, and the mental illnesses it has caused them, and he's reflecting on it at 11pm. This can also be related to an everyday person suffering from a mental illness such as stress/anxiety growing up.

Bruna O. I think it means the year 2011. He might be referring to his previous label and how they treated him. "I'm a slave to all of these in my head" "When you'd get so cold".
