Was working a seasonal temp job and asked my co-worker do you know this band and song playing overhead in the store? She said Rise Against, Savior the song. I'm an over 50 Black woman, so I'm not the market for this music, lol. But damn, it's a head banger. Punk at its finest. Been in bands in the past. The guitar work and vocals are killin' me and the drumming is rediculously phenomenal. I see folks down in the comments saying their old. I say our appreciation of music is greater, we have a larger and longer repertoire to choose from. Believe it or not this song is soulful, the frontman is singing about loss and forgiveness with HEART and his WHOLE being. Musicians must give their ALL. Savior is greatness from start to finish and so terribly underrated. New music love for me. Rise Against.

Thought of this song, played it here, listened to the lyrics again and then realised what has prompted the thought. I introduced Anna to Rise Against, when we were both in love. It's strange to think that the amazing connection that we had never really resulted in anything. Still, hopefully she thinks of me and remembers me fondly, as I do with her. More than that I hope, with G-d's grace, she's found the happiness that she deserves.

It kills me not to know this, but I've all but just forgotten What the color of her eyes were, and her scars or how she got them As the telling signs of age rain down, a single tear is dropping Through the valleys of an aging face, that this world has forgotten There is no reconciliation that will put me in my place And there is no time like the present, to drink these draining seconds But seldom do these words ring true, when I'm constantly failing you Like walls that we just can't break through, until we disappear So tell me now If this ain't love then how do we get out? Because I don't know That's when she said I don't hate you boy I just want to save you while there's still something left to save That's when I told her I love you girl But I'm not the answer for the questions that you still have, whoa, whoa And the day pressed on like crushing weights For no man does it ever wait Like memories of dying days That deafen us like hurricanes Bathed in flames we held the brand Uncurled the fingers in your hand Pressed into the flesh like sand Now do you understand? So tell me now If this ain't love then how do we get out? Because I don't know That's when she said I don't hate you boy I just want to save you while there's still something left to save That's when I told her I love you girl But I'm not the answer for the questions that you still have, whoa, whoa One thousand miles away There's nothing left to say But so much left that I don't know We never had a choice This world is too much noise It takes me under It takes me under once again I don't hate you I don't hate you no So tell me now If this ain't love then how do we get out? As a 36 year old married woman with children, house, career… this song brings me back to the times when I was happiest but not the most fulfilled. And to think… there’s an almost 40 year old man out there that thinks of 22 year old me every time he hears this. I think I’d probably risk it all to feel the way I did back then. I hope you’re doing good. 🖤

It kills me not to know this But I've all but just forgotten What the colour of her eyes were And her scars or how she got them As the telling signs of age rain down A single tear is dropping Through the valleys of an aging face That this world has forgotten There is no reconciliation That will put me in my place And there is no time like the present To drink these draining seconds But seldom do these words ring true When I'm constantly failing you Walls that we just can't break through Until we disappear So tell me now If this ain't love then how do we get out? 'Cause I don't know That's when she said "I don't hate you boy I just want to save you While there's still something left to save" That's when I told her, "I love you girl But I'm not the answer For the questions that you still have" And the day pressed on like crushing weights For no man does it ever wait Like memories of dying days That deafen us like hurricanes Bathed in flames we held the brand Uncurled the fingers in your hand Pressed into the flesh like sand Now do you understand? So tell me now If this ain't love then how do we get out? 'Cause I don't know That's when she said "I don't hate you boy I just want to save you While there's still something left to save" That's when I told her, "I love you girl But I'm not the answer For the questions that you still have" One thousand miles away There's nothing left to say But so much left that I don't know We never had a choice This world is too much noise It takes me under It takes me under once again I don't hate you I don't hate you, no So tell me now If this ain't love then how do we get out? 'Cause I don't know That's when she said "I don't hate you boy I just want to save you While there's still something left to save" That's when I told her, "I love you girl But I'm not the answer For the questions that you still have" I don't hate you I don't hate you I don't hate you I don't hate you, no

I heard this song on the radio about a week ago n I've also been taking refuge in it. I fucked up n violated Parole on top of everything going on so I gotta turn myself in real soon... It's really hard to willingly go to the police station or wherever n say hey lock me up now please.. gotta do it though cause my life is on pause until I do my time n get back out. It's looking like I'll be doing somewhere between 6-36 months. Probably do 1-2yrs. I'll make it through n build myself a good life. Keep your head up brother! You can get through anything. Just reach out for help n keep talking with people. It sure has helped me through a lot. I'm 32 from just outside Philly. Enough bullshit to go around, around here lol
