We take a trip to Clouds Hill National Trust, once the home of TE Lawrence, also known as Lawrence of Arabia. Famously played by Peter O' Toole in the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia.
We do Motorhome Reviews, Motorhome Days Out, Help, Hints and Tips on Motorhomes, Motorhome Tours in the UK and Europe, we visit Motorhome Shows, and spend over a third of our year living in a motorhome. In fact all things motorhome!

Really interesting. Absolutely love TE Lawrence. Very special character. The doctor that treated him after his motorbike crash was so devastated that he died from his injuries that he campaigned the government to have the compulsory wearing of crash helmets made law.

Bob those tanks were 432 APC armoured personnel carriers, which carry an infantry section plus a driver commander and L37 gunner. I actually learnt to drive these exactly the same route you saw them on back in 1987. Now replaced mainly by the Warrior AFV, which offers far more protection, speed and fire power. Sorry after 33 years in the army its hard to let go.

Cloud Hill, an easy maintained design for living. I think a modern day Lawrence would have chosen the Bailey Alliance instead of Cloud Hill!. He would of course have needed a trailer for the Royal Enfield. The Bailey is perfect for couples. Or perfect for singles (maybe retired) who just want out, and just want simple. Sell up do it full time. Its something I am going to do hopefully. My old mates say "yes, give it a go", but I find the majority like to come up with every kind of negative. But it feels right for me. And that Bailey just looks right. Cheers Bob, really liked this vid.

I have watched this video a few times! Then I watched the movie with Peter O'Tool... 1962. Then I watched Lawrence of Arabia (T. E. Lawrence) and his legacy. King Faizal abandoned him so did the British. My question... Is Lawrence a hero or villein according to the general British people? At least Lawrence did mention South Africa as example to the British colonialists. It was a sad revelation that the Americans used him as role model to their stupid invasion of areas in the middle East! How do you paint this picture?

To me, he was a dreamer and an idealist. He promised things that he personally couldn't deliver, that's why he suffered so much after the war.

Bob Earnshaw I agree with you. In ‘Seven Pillars’ he speaks of living a lie. It had become clear to the British government was not going to deliver on their promise of an independent Arab state, and yet Lawrence had to keep the momentum of the revolt going. It broke his heart.
