It's amazing how precise Colin is when it comes to cleaning. The stuff that he hears is the smallest stuff that makes the biggest difference.

That smoke at the beginning of the warm up in Atlanta isn't coming from Colin's stogie; it's from the drumline's hands.

One of the snares(his name was zach) was teaching my schools drumline this week for a bit. He talked about how in the morning they would spend 3 hours or so on visuals then eat lunch then for another 3-4 hours they would focus on just cleaning their playing. Then they would get dinner until they had a full ensemble with the band for a 3-4 hours. But he said how that year they really wanted to be the best drumline so they would all meet at like midnight and walk a mile to a place where they would play on pads till like 3 in the morning and how they would wake up at 7 in the morning every day. Was really cool and the hard work clearly paid off

It will change your life for the better!! There aren't many activities that can give you the life experiences that Drum Corps does in just one summer. Something many people don't even see until after they 'Age Out' is how little Drum Corps is about marching & music, and how much more it is about becoming a better person, strong leader, and preparing you for dealing with whatever life throws at you. From all of us at The Grid Book Series, we recommend joining a Corps no matter where you march!!

What camera did you use for this recording? audio sounds great man! ive been looking for a camera that has good mic like this to record stuff like this! what camera ( mic atts, did you use?
@gridbooknation10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jose! And Malcolm is right. It is not often that the stock mic of a camera will do better than one purchased separately. However, there are ways for you to connect your equipment together to make a great quality package for recording audio and video together. We are still working on upgrading our equipment, but we used a GoPro for all of the video (1080p 60fps) and an H4N for sound. We blended the audio from the GoPro and H4N together in Final Cut Pro to make audio with great contact sound and a supporting low end. The majority of editing went into the sound as some of the shots the mic was further away. Hope this helps!! Cheers!

Sometimes i wish i hadn't given up on drum corp. I was 4th bass my freshman year of highschool, and was snare my sophmore and junior year. In my senior year, i thought my life was too good for my corp. so i quit. Now im a freshman in college, and wishing i hadnt given up so easily. I am wanting to get back into it, but i havent had any success. So, i guess my drumming days are a day of they past unfortunetly. I still do practice from time to time though. Only one can dream.

What type of cameras are you using and program to video? It's pretty good quality, and awesome video to watch.
@gridbooknation10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tony! We actually only used a GoPro Hero 3 BLACK. We shot everything @ 1080p 60fps and used Final Cut Pro 7 to edit. Our audio was mainly from an H4N recorder, but we also liked the strong contact sound from the internal GoPro mic, so we synced both audio files to make a good, full sound. That was one of our priorities in making this, Great Quality Audio. So the fact that you pointed that out means a lot! Thank you!!

@gridbooknation10 жыл бұрын
Dustin is right! There are still some all male corps out there, but Cadets is not one of them. You should check out the Cadets website for more info on them: yea.org/programs/cadets/cadets If you look around you will see girls in DCI lines all over through the years. As long as the Corps is not an all male organization, anyone has a shot at marching! There are MANY others, but here is a video of the 2005 Cadets Snare Line (look in the center) Cadets 2005 Snares Now, get to practicing and good luck!! =)
