Former Australian player the late Bobby Richman advocated opening any two suited hand of 6 or less losers, no matter how low the point count. On that basis, the Richman Rule says that east can open 1C, having 1+3+0+2 theoretical losers. Now south will double, west 1S and even if north bids 2D, east will get to mention hearts before south has a chance to!
