This is the Grimsby town deep sea trawler which the 1970 version was called kandahar.the two arch shaped items are where the trawle gear was hung from .this held the otterboards and net. As a young lad a worked on Grimsby docks where hundreds of the trawlers were moored .the Ross fleet were all named after big cats. Nothing is left of it now .I had the model as a kid and somewhere in our house it still lurks lol .good memories .

Likely a temperature issue with the cans of paint - it can affect how paint/gloss comes out ...always better to do such things in a medium/slightly warm temp range.

I like the way that turned out 👍👍 If you mix a bit of clay kitty litter into your grout it helps with the texture a lot. Back when I did a lot of dios I used a mix of 1 part litter and 3 parts Celluclay

I've never used either Vallejo or any of the Mr. Products varnishes, but I have seen a lot of videos. One dude had trouble with Mr. Super Clear coming out glossy. It was because his can was too cold. Warming the paint returned it to proper flatness.

If two cans have the same effect even after using other varnishes, then ask Vallejo as it may be a reaction either to ubdercured paint. I rather use the Vallejo polyurethane matt varnish applied with the airbrush or the Mig lucky flat varnish.

Th hole on the bow of the ship was it because it hit a rock in the past or something else that gave it a hole an oncoming headon collision? Just my guess.
