Mardonius real name was Mardohai.....because he was Hebrew... in greek language was Mardonios, and in Latin is Mardonius. When Greeks capture the Persian camp,....Paysanias got into Mardonius tent and asked from the persian slaves to prepare a meal as they usually prepare for their leaders....the long table, filled with a lot of food of any kind, on the rich table ..... golden and silver plates, golden cups, goldens chairs, covered by wild animal leathers (lions, tigers etc)......after Pausanias asked from his soldiers to bring a smal wooden desk and chair, and prepare for him the Spartan soup (Melas Zomos = black soup) and a piece of bread, and he sat to eat.....but before started eating, asked all his officers to get inside Mardonius tend,.....and said to them : See how idiots are the Persians,.....they had all these (showing them the rich and full of many foods on Persian table),.....and they came from Asia from so big distance, to take from us this (showing them the black soup and the piece of bread)

Gl with your history channel mate. Haft to ask tho about the map at start which shows Delian league, its a bit confusing since it hasn't formed yet when Plataea happend. And entire Aegen sea was part of it which is missing. Calling the greek Armada Athenian fleet and Athens in charge is a bit of a stretch, Spartan Eurybiades was the navarch and highest command, and while Athens suplied most of the ships, its was a joint fleet with ships from many city states.

Thanks for your comment! You've brought up some valid points. Our goal in highlighting the Delian League and Athens was to show the growing tensions and eventual conflict between Athens and Sparta in ancient Greece. You’re right that the Delian League wasn’t officially formed yet at the time of Plataea and that the fleet was a joint effort under Spartan leadership. But we wanted to underscore how these early alliances and the roles of Athens and Sparta set the stage for the major shifts that led to the Peloponnesian War. And yes, your other insights are spot on and definitely help us complete the picture.

Mardonius was the son of Gobryas not Darius….
@greatboxingen2 ай бұрын
Thank you for pointing that out. To be precise, Darius was indeed Mardonius’s father-in-law, not his biological father. Appreciate your attention to detail.

@@greatboxingen Gobryas was one of the 7 noble lords that helped put Darius on the throne of Persia. As a reward for this The 2 families had numerous marriages to bond them closer.
