I kinda love how it seems everyone as a kid was scarred by happy tree friends and I never really found it that scary. Then again, I've been watching the animals of farthing woods since I could walk and that show is way more realistic and scary with proper build up and impact. HTF is fun and I'm happy its coming back though! I haven't thought about it in years.
@philiproca417810 ай бұрын
I never really found it that scary either, maybe it was because I was used to blood from watching horror movies, and adult shows with my mom. Actually, I found some of the deaths a bit funny at times.

I remember there being a “KZbin Copyright School” animation with a HTF character that was…very poorly received. On another note, while I do feel bad for Catherine’s son, the blame is still primarily on her for not bothering to monitor what he sees more closely. Hopefully this didn’t end up scarring him for life.

I still remember my first experience with Happy Tree Friends quite vividly: I remember having like 7-8 years old, laying on my parents bed and watching some music videos on MTV until, out of nowhere, the episode "Crazy antics" started airing. Suffice to say, I couldn't stomach more than 10 seconds before changing the channel.

Ka-Pow didn't exactly set the world on fire when it was released, but it certainly helped push the franchise quite a lot in later years. I hope someday Mondo Media gives us season 2, or at the very least, some kind of spiritual successor.

I watched bit of that show when I was really young and my older brother watched. It didn't trumatize me when I was really young but I just innocent and confussed of what am I watching, I was that type of kid to get scared of any violence shown on media but wierdly HTF didn't scare me. IDK I think I was too dumb to understand watching HTF.

I think the Lumpy at the end of the rollercoaster episode was a statue. Anyway I found out about it when I was 9 through someone talking about it, occasionally I would look stuff up but I would be too scared to click anything. Until I was 11 and once I watched a few I didn’t understand why I was scared to begin with. I think I started of watching fanmade episodes to get a feel for them before watching offical ones.

Small correction-Happy Tree Friends aired on G4 and Spike, I don't know if it ever aired on MTV. Though Spike is technically owned by Viacom the same company. Yeah, in this day in age, HTF's not as shocking as it used to be and considered pretty tame. Admittedly I wish the show would either keep having new episodes or end in a grand finale as opposed to limbo. An HTF movie would be amazing but that's least likely to happen sadly due to lack of demand. This and Gorillaz also were promised a movie but plans kept falling through over the years. :( Also love the Petunia closet cosplay! Very cute.

Happy tree friends is auch a paradox because the only people who'd be genuinely into something as brainlessly violent are 12 year olds and people with the mind of 12 year olds 😅 I was 15 when south park premiered and I got tired of it after 6 months because it is so childish. I watched HTF on tv and i rolled my eyes so hard. The joke is funny ONCE.

I found Happy Tree Friends when I was pretty young, like too young to even have an email. There was this reaction and gaming channel that I used to watch a lot, and at some point they reacted to an episode of Happy Tree Friends. I wouldn't say it traumatized me too bad since for the most part I either squinted my eyes or looked away entirely when it got gory, but it did make me extremely uncomfortable and caused me to develop an attachment to Toothy (I may or may not have shipped my fursona with him back in the day...). Needless to say, as someone who isn't a fan of heavy gore, I'm not a fan of the show itself, but I do really like the characters themselves and have even drawn my own versions of them before. Honestly I have a morbid fascination with HTF despite not liking the show itself, hence why I'm watching this video right now. XD

I’m starting to think that I’m the only kid who self-regulated their online use lol. Up til like age 14 whenever I stumbled on something that was clearly Too Much For Me (violent/sexual content) I would immediately close the tab and feel guilty for days lol. I DID get freaked out by HTF too young but it was because my neighbor made me watch it with him on his family computer. In fact, other kids showing it to me was pretty much my only exposure to Upsetting Internet Things that are infamous among people my age. Now, do I have an anxiety disorder causing a tendency to avoid anything that makes me uncomfortable? Yes. Is that related? Who’s to say?

I remember my mom's babysitter (?) handing me her phone which had the HTF episode 'Eyes Cold Lemonade' on it. I had no idea why she had it, but I watched it and was invested in it. I felt bad for Petunia and Giggles as my thought process was, "Ouch. That hurt. Well, I'm sure they're...fine. They just need some bandages. That's all.'

A fun little walk down memory lane. I was a massive HTF fan back in the day and I think my entrypoint was the Fall Out Boy music video as I grew up during that albums era. I am 25 now so I was about 9 when I first saw an episode. The only episode that messed me up and still kind of does when I rewatch to this day is Out On a Limb (the lumberjack one) especially that spoon scene. Still get shudders thinking about it. I remember then binging as many of the shorts I could from the website which led to me buying the DVDs and staying up late Friday nights to watch the tv show on Paramount Comedy in the UK. Not sure if you figured it out already but the ending of The Wrong Side of The Tracks it's not Lumpy himself with the picture but rather a Lumpy themed picture frame since the theme park is Lumpy themed. Hope that clears up any confusion haha

That anime adjacent fanbase of this show back in the early mid 00s (talking like, 2005-ish) was honestly a ton of fun, is like old school south park fans that made anime fanart of the kids. I loved to collect fanart with the cute human designs people came up with. I think that aspect of the community is what made me cherish these gory cute animals even more that I did as a weird kid.

I remember seeing this when I was little and I had a horrible fear of those rotating doors after that because of the first episode. I wouldn’t go inside of any rotating door like at hospitals or fairs or anything. One specific instance that was funny was when someone in the family was having a baby and I really didn’t want to go inside the hospital. My parents thought it was because I was like a jealous kid and didn’t want the baby but I just didn’t want to go into the door bc I thought I’d be squished. I loved the show though and would lay in the hammock with my friend and binge watch it on my little tablet 😭

I heard other people talk about this growing up and the idea of cartoon creatures getting maimed didn't sit right with me even though I liked scary movies so I never watched. I was obsessed with horror as a teen/YA and probably would have liked it then but now that I've had a baby I can't stand it AT ALL which is so weird. I had to cover my eyes several times during this video when once upon a time I'd fall asleep to slasher movies like it was nothing. Great video 😊👍
