Fun fact for the reason why the gang can't swim. In the PS2 instruction manual that was designed to look like The Theiveus Racoonus, there's a comment about the three skipping swimming class at the orphanage.

Sly is one of the foundational games of my childhood, so much so that I have his cane tattooed on my arm! Can't wait to go back and watch your Sly 1 and I'm looking forward to your Sly 3 video. I also hope you make a video on the 4th game, even though it wasn't a masterpiece like the original trilogy, I still love the game regardless of its flaws.

I just watched the separate videos for the first time a month ago. Am I going to watch them all again in this single video already? Yes. Yes I am. Also, I didn't comment this on the original video, but I'm so happy that the flashlight guard in the water bug mission got a mention. Because from what I remember, I SWEAR he had a 100% spawn rate for that mission specifically to make that route much more difficult, but I kept trying to take it anyways every time I played through the game. In fact, my memory is telling me there might've been TWO flashlight guards up there, with the second one always facing towards where you approach from, making it extremely difficult to go that way.

There’s SO many deep dives on this game coming out every couple years and it’s insane to think it came out… 20 years ago? 😭 It feels so modern. Not technologically, but writing wise. It holds up today. If anything the writing is even better than today’s writing. Sly 2 was such a gem and it refined an already good game into a fantastic game.

1:41:25 To cut them a little slack, I’ve always assumed the way it played out for the gang was this: Rajan wasn’t arrested, and it’s pretty clear that he’s: A - Very Powerful B - The type of person to hold a grudge So the gang were looking into him since him getting away from the Police leaves a HUGE loose end for them. Whilst looking into where Rajan had run off to, they uncovered his Spice operation in the jungle, and, by proxy, the Clockwerk Heart. This prompts them to launch a *second* heist against Rajan, both to get the Clockwerk Heart and to tie up the loose end of Rajan.

Sly 2 takes me back to when I was in the 3rd grade and I would literally wake up an hour early before getting ready for school just to play. Absolute banger deep dive into this absolute banger game! The last six and a half hours straight up flew by getting to learn so much about a game I thought I knew so well -- like!! I never knew you could just straight up explode Murray with the cherry bomb, that's wild. All the edits sprinkled in (bentley's "LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS" and the realistic power saw situation during the dance were especially iconic) and the way you engage with the gameplay and story not just in good faith, but with a genuine love of the series really cements this deep dive as a true gem of a video. Stellar work!! also 2:15:43 I know the inflection isn't quite the same, but that "...and you'll dodge it just fine" is giving Mz. Ruby and now I can't unhear it LMAO

Sly 2 is one of the first games I ever played by myself, and one of my favorites. I replay it nearly every year I can never get enough of it. The HD collection on ps5 came out a little bit after I watched this deep dive for the first time, so I decided to do this year's playthrough by spacing out the chapters of the game with watching this video along side it, one chapter a day. It was a ton of fun, playing the chapter then hearing your thoughts about it like we just went through it together. Also its a point of pride for me that I can find every clue bottle in every chapter without a guide as soon as I get control of Sly, so you going through the clue bottles each section was a nice bonus for me seeing how someone else decides to find the bottles and when and what order. Looking forward to your Sly 3 deep dives!

1:59:50 It's kinda funny actually... The comment of "feeling safe, like you can just settle in behind her" finally made that whole mission click. She's literally leading Sly (and the player) on a wild goose chase because she *knows* he's blindly trusting her to do everything. She easily could've just told you "oh yeah the secret entrance is several feet that way," but no. She's literally dragging him around for a lot of pointless meandering because she knows she can get away with it. Sly's not going to ask "why" he'll just follow. And players thinking it was pointless padding *on the devs' part* (i.e. blaming *them* instead of *her* ) just really adds to that too.
