Unfortunately, some information was incorrect in your video. it’s not available as a rightie. The righty 5422 has a licensed bigsby. The trapeze version is only available as a lefty. The only righty 5422 with trapeze is the 12 string.

@@souldreamer9056 Yeah, you'd be right, as Fender don't make LH Bigsby vibratos!

@@DMSProduktions I’d buy this guitar if they made a rightie with a trapeze.

I bought a used 2016 Electromatic Jet last Christmas. I love the absolute control with these Filtertrons; they get you to that place in the mix that fits just so. That hollow body is a killer, too! Love that tail piece. More companies should do the artful function thing.

NICE axe Shane! I have a G5222, & it's a killer guitar! Re the pick ups, they DO need some finessing, as they are quite sensitive. Neck usually needs to come down, but RAISE the screw poles to maintain articulation! Apart from that, these CN Gretschs are really well made, & set up OUT of the box! A great country, blues & rock instrument! Cheers!

Very Cool, Thankyou Shane. Awesome Review/Demo. Stunning Guitar. Love the Gretsch Electromatics, such Amazing Quality Guitars, a Joy to play and still 'reasonably' priced models available. All the Best. Cheers

Just like the Reverend in your previous review, the Gretsch offers something that sounds a little different. They definitely have their own voice. I have a nice big-body Gretsch so I'm already a fan!!
@iburley_21 күн бұрын
As much as tuning stability would likely suffer a bit, I think if you go Gretsch you almost have to go Bigsby. It's just part of it. I love these white and gold hollow bodies though, there's definitely one on my want list.

I’ve got a 5422G with some custom pinstriping and I love playing it. It’s also lightweight and has a great rock sound and also does a real nice 60s vibe too!

That is one beautiful Gretsch. I'd love to be able to get that in a right hand without the bigsby but sadly they don't make one like that. Random thought, would you ever try to review a strandberg boden essential?

Ironic that this just came up in my feed! I just posted (last night) a video of a Gretsch G5422 12 string I just refretted for a client! Love your channel Shane (always have). Victor...

This guitar is one you almost have to dress up to play!! Looks really nice and upscale plus it sounds good. I don’t believe it is a direct replacement for a Gibson 335, but for $900US it is a good value for a semi hollow guitar.😎🎸🎸👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I have a G5422-T. It's my favorite guitar. It can do almost anything, and I just love how clear and responsive it is. I love the whole vibe of playing rock n' roll rhythm parts on that thing - Pete Townshend or Malcolm Young-type stuff, but it'll do mellower stuff and leads as well. After I had mine professionally set up, it even stays in tune with some Bigsby use. The whole guitar is slightly microphonic, which makes it hard to use in very high volume or high gain settings, but there's so much you can do with it. Also, there's something about the vibe of playing gigs on a hollowbody like that. I feel like the vibe is so much more out-in-the-room compared to a solidbody.

I like that it does not have a bigsby trem. I have a Gretsch and I didn’t know about the high pass filter thing. That’s awesome! Great vid Shane! Thanks mate!!! 🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸
@peterschmidt994212 күн бұрын
I bought and orange one of those in a similar shaped electromatic years ago with the trem (probably the G5622T). Surprisingly the pickups sounded decent and controls worked well (compared to the duo jet I got). And you're right, higher gain settings work well considering it's a hollow body. I still prefer the top edge fret markers (like a normal gretsch) to the cloud inlays but thats a personal preference.

I have the same guitar in the gt. It is an outstanding guitar and is my goto guitar. its best on a tube amp with tad of reverb and delay, nothing else so far! open to suggestions however! thanks for sharing.

Very enjoyable demo, Shane.👍 Great looking guitar. I'm not sure which model in the 5 series has the Bigsby fitted to it , but that might just round off the overall appearance of an aesthetically pleasing instrument. Instant White Falcon vibes! 👍🎸😁😎

As a lefty, I count on your demos to give me the scoop on what guitars I can actually get. I am surprised that you didn't get any feedback with the gain on a hollow body guitar. Good to know in case I consider getting one. I have the 5622LH and really enjoy it.

I have a 2015 model with a Bigsby, damn tuning instability. BUT.. is a looker and a killer sounding guitar.. I like the white and gold, brings class and credo to me whether it's deserved or not! :P

I appreciate that Gretsch is pretty good about making lefties, but I really wish they offered some of the lower priced options with a Bigsby.
@theoloutlaw21 күн бұрын
One thing for sure, it's reasonably priced. I'd like to know what the big differences are between say this instrument, and a Gretsch instrument in the 2.5 - 3.5,000 dollar range? Not a big fan of the white colour either, but there are some cool Gretsch coloured instruments out there. Good one again Shane.

Isn't the bridge pinned instead of "glued" ( in this case by the bridge studs that go through the wooden base)

Great demo. Great guitar to play, but strap buttons are a pain. Anticlockwise thread on a thin screw so (at least in my experience) when you tighten (clockwise) the strap button beyond a certain point it begins to unthread the screw. End result for me is I can never get it super tight on the bridge end and even then the screw wobbles in the slot (yes, with a strap in it). Anyone know how to get it to work properly without changing the strap button setup entirely?
