Cassian had his dear friends to live for, but if he simply escaped with them, then he'd put them in the line of fire. He had plenty left to lose. But he did what he had to, in order to protect them best. As always, Cassian's family came first - the Rebellion would have what's left over.

I always liked andor and kinda of shame he never got the spotlight like the other R1 team but his show changed not only how I look at R1 but ALL of Star Wars. It have not be hot in terms of streaming numbers but Forrest Gump wasn’t the highest grossing movie of its year but we still talk about that. It’s telling a story the deepens the mythology of Star Wars and had basically seen universal praise. Not the fandom menace can say anything too negative. That’s something special and having these week to week discussions with the fandom is the best experience I’ve ever had. 11/10

I loved the direction and cinematography concerning the "feel of Star Wars." I remember I was a bit put off with how Ferrix and Morlana 1 and the first few episodes just didn't "feel like Star Wars," but by the end, when Cassian returns to Ferrix that has COMPLETELY changed! We see a heavy Imperial presence, with multiple squads of Stormtroopers patrolling in the background, droid surveillance and Imperial oppression suffocating the streets. While the first couple episodes didn't present much "Star Wars imagery," it was unmistakable by the end! I loved that artistic touch.

Andor has set a high bar for all future SW content. The writing, dialogue delivery, and acting are of the highest level. Andor is for Rogue One that which TCW is for the the PT…they add much needed context and character development for their respective movies. If nothing else, Andor made the Empire feel intimidating again and gave real depth to the self sacrifice that revolution requires. Andor also introduced something new to the galaxy far, far away…the monologue written and delivered with high quality. Kino’s, Luthen’s, Nemik’s, and Maarva’s monologues are collectively my favorite moments in the series, a series that I honestly can’t find one piece of dialogue that was meaningless and disconnected from the story. Tony Gilroy and his production team deserve high credit for what they created. Can’t wait for season 2!

I love your take. Those who think that Cassian has no or clumsy character development need to watch more closely. And Luna’s performance is masterful. I particularly enjoy the buildup to the Aldhani heist, on a rewatch. The first time he openly defies an order, about flying the freighter, is also when you start to see his leadership capabilities. And in my opinion, it is here where he learns about being a true team player - telling them that he is a mercenary is as much about helping them successfully pull off the heist as it is about saving his own skin. He is genuinely embarrassed, I think, about revealing this to Nemik especially. A lesser show would have this become the key moment where he changes into the Rogue One character but this show is so much better than that. It’s a gradual change over time. Absolutely brilliant.

A most perfect take on andor I 100 percent agree with it all. While not my type of ideal Star Wars or how I prefer my Star Wars it was a perfectly told story with great character development. Cassian is practically the Latino Han Solo. The guy was a key piece for n stealing loads of money from the empire, he practically came up with the plan to escape the prison and was literally the sole reason they all escaped. (If he wasn’t there no one probably would even attempted) and the guy evaded 3 different factions trying to kill or capture him at the same time (one being the empire with a freggin super army) all while breaking his girlfriend out from capture of the empire itself. It doesn’t get more bad ass than that my friend. I wasn’t that big on Cassian before but he definitely earned a new fan after this one.

I was honestly uninterested in a Andor series at first, and then saw the cast. Stellan will always be one of my favorite actors and he usually chooses excellent roles. So when the trailers actually hit I gave it a shot. Truly a masterpiece in storytelling. It was gripping right from the first scene. Anyone who says this isn't "Star wars" has no clue about the Original IP and proper worldbuilding in general.

I appreciate your attempt to deep dive on all these Andor characters but these characters will never be iconic. The show has been ok and in some ways better than Kenobi or Boba Fett. But I’ll probably never go back and rewatch. 3-4 good episodes and 6-7 fillers. And could have been told in about 8. 0 characters I’m inspired by or emotionally attached to. Best May be the B2 droid. Couldn't disagree more with the characterisation and development you give for Cassian in the show. It's none existent for me...he's all over the place. In my opinion, Cassian's story arc is poorly structured with a heavy dependence on great individual scene writing and acting. Just take a step back and think about how he progresses from one situation to the next and the convenient timing / plot developments involved...it's hard to take it seriously. We're supposed to believe that the events of this season have a drastic effect on Cassian's willingness to join the rebellion? How, with everything that happened to him before this show he should already be a die hard rebel. Surely it would have made sense to show him as such and portray how his childhood innocence is corrupted by his resistance group to turns him into the cold-hearted killer we see in Rouge One. We aren't supposed to like Cassian Andor, his redemption comes in Rouge One when he doesn't pull that trigger... I'm not sure who was in charge of the overall narrative of the show but I think it's telling that John Knoll and Gary Whitta provided the story for Rogue One and don't seem to have been involved in Andor. Strange how when you click with a show you can gush with positive feelings about it but when you don't, all you can see are negatives. The show only clicked with me for the first 10 minutes of Episode 1. I suppose it's kinda boring if we all see things the same way though, right?

@LaraA552 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree with your analysis and you are right. It would be boring if everyone loved it or saw things the same way. Andor himself wasn't the main protagonist and driving the narrative foward. I am more into a balanced analysis when I look at a show., the good and bad elements as nothing is perfect, a masterpiece ( well from a certain subjective point of view) in real life and in the media. I liked the show, it certainly had great things to it but my god, I did see many flaws with it as well. This show as I see it is for a small niche of the fandom but not for the overall fandom per se. I know of many who love it and some who don't. For me this show was just good, just okay and average but I still embraced it as there is a place for Star Wars shows like this in the Star Wars Universe, like with the other shows. I don't compare shows and say it is the best Star Wars ever. For me. this doesn't make sense, it lacks logic as the shows are all different in how they made, style of storytelling, themes and of course characters. The shows should be looked at complimenting one another not being the best ever. Comparing Mando to Andor for instance is like comparing chalk and cheese.

There are always two different people who make a needed change happen. Some are born to it, like Luke and Leia, others become part of it by wanting to become a part of something more, like Cassian Andor. This is true in reality as well. Dr. Martin Luther King and Rep. John Lewis come to mind in modern times. Andor proves positive change is good on so many levels and that is what we weren't expecting.

Dr. King gave inspirational speeches and all their speeches and marches were peaceful. Cassian is a straight up murdering terrorists which is the completely opposite of Dr. King and Representative Lewis. It’s completely vile vile to compare them to Cassian. You both need to read an American history book before making these comparisons. There are plenty of other freedom fighters in American history like Davey Crocket who fought and killed but not Dr. King, Representative Lewis and their followers. I’m very disappointed you chose to equate Cassian to those two men so couldn’t be any more different.
