A few comments are repeating what other derms have said (i.e. eye creams and essential oils). So even derms have different opinions and philosophies when it comes to skincare. I would love to see a discussion among several derms to see how they address each others differing views. Personally I find some derms are more conservative in their recommendations, telling you to eliminate all potential irritants and using only products that have ingredients that have lab tested efficacy, while others are more flexible with experimentation and seeing if a certain ingredient might work for you when it doesn't work for others.

@perfumaphilia32465 жыл бұрын
It IS interesting! I've noticed a few things. 1) Their skincare routines are never as elaborate as the average skincare enthusiast's. 2) They often don't take small details about products or methods nearly as seriously as we do. They seem to be more relaxed and laid back about skincare, if that makes sense. Maybe it's because they know which ingredients really work, and also know that they can have procedures done at any time that we don't have access to, which have an even greater impact on skin appearance.

I don't think aging is going to change for this generation, as one commenter in the video suggested it might. Retinol has been around for quite a while now, especially among the rich and famous, and it hasn't caused them to age any less quickly. Fillers and Botox make people look different, but not younger. I think aging will continue as it always has because it's an internal process you can't change with external measures. Also, this derm is so smart yet friendly at the same time. I love her. A lot of doctors come across as arrogant. She's like a breathe of fresh, glowy air.

HB, 1.) Would love to hear a derm's opinion on actives in moisturizers (ex. Moisturizer with vitamin c) and how effective they are. 2.) Am curious if derm would recommend using 2 products within a skincare's line? For ex. Peter Thomas Roth and Olehendrickson both have vitamin c lines that include a serum & a moisturizer, should/could that vitamin c serum & moisturizer be used at same time? Or are they intended as options for using that ingredient in a routine and it's up to buyers to decide what cocktail of products to use?

I also use a sheet mask three times a week, which is really just soaking the skin in serum. I use different masks, depending on the state of my skin. I think it's better to use vitamin c in the morning and retinol at night at first (if u want to use both), and later if everything goes well try to do both in the same routine. If you get irritation then stop immediately and rinse it off. I think some people can handle while some can not. It's all about how much your skin can tolerate.
@peachesandscreams135 жыл бұрын
I think both are saying the same thing. You can use them together but not at the same time (ie mixing your retinol and vitamin c products together). Splitting up when you use each (one at night and one in the morning) is perfectly fine!

@dianarusnov2925 жыл бұрын
I think that you are totally ok to use it twice a day as long as it's tretinoin! I have heard that retinols deactivate with sun exposure, but tretinoin does not since it is in its purest form and doesn't have to undergo the chemical reaction that retinol does to convert itself to tretinoin. Most people assume that it makes you sensitive to sun in the morning, but it just makes you sensitive overall, which is why you need sunscreen whenever you use acids or retinol, whether morning or night! :)
