Lowkey feel like the dermatologist was telling these girls things they all already know... they're obviously all quite knowledgeable about skincare already based on their routines. I think this would have been better with skincare newbies or people who have no routine at all, and the dermatologist could recommend types of products to them.
@moncheri2300
@moncheri2300 5 жыл бұрын
Honestly speaking... these girls' skin weren't really that bad. They never seem to but people with visibly damaged skin in these types of videos, it's really annoying. I want to see women with actual problems with hyper-pigmentation and active acne. I also want to see them talk about the differences in routines for teenagers vs adult women, because I see a lot of people pushing skin products to their teen audience.
@melissapeterson1298
@melissapeterson1298 5 жыл бұрын
Ya that’s exactly what I was thinking. None of the girls had routines that were the “average” persons routine. I was waiting for the dermatologist to criticize something. The video was basically of the girls showing their routine that’s it.
@ActuallyAnanya
@ActuallyAnanya 5 жыл бұрын
@@melissapeterson1298 honestly I'm pretty sure the last girl knew fully well what HA stood for and they just had her ask that so it'd look like she learned something. She's into skincare enough to be buying kbeauty products as well as from The Ordinary, she definitely knows what hyaluronic acid is lmao

Women interested in skincare are more likely to jump at the chance to be involved in a video like this. And keep in mind, just because a routine is extensive and has a lot of cult favorite products involved does not mean the person has an awesome skincare regime. For example, Dr. Dray - a dermatologist - would not endorse the Farmacy cleansing balm because of the high volume of natural fragrance that can be disruptive to the skin. It doesn’t seem like this dermatologist was given the ingredients lists for each product which might’ve changed her opinion... with so little information to go on, she could only suggest broader tips like retinol and double cleansing etc. A lot of dermatologist actually recommend a more simple routine... beauty gurus and bloggers are the ones that recommended everything from Sephora.

Fair point about doing a newbie video as well. I really enjoyed this video because it either validates or debunks hyped products by a professional. Like the first person, I’ve had a regular routine by now and pulled all these things from research from the net but doesn’t mean I’m a chemist or dermatologist!

Try using a cream cleanser, and a gentle exfoliate you don’t want anything course because it will tug at your pores making them “larger” and can cause micro cuts on the skin making it look dull. Also I love using a hyaluronic acid serum it really helps to hydrate the skin and make look dewy and glowing

A while back I started using an acne treatment (Differin gel) that has been known to dry out skin quite a bit. My skin went from oily to combination where my T-zone would be extremely oily still but then parts of my forehead and cheeks would FLAKE. I then incorporated Jojoba oil into my routine after moisturizer and my skin became more clear (i still have acne, it didn't clear all of it) and balanced my oily/dryness. I now have normal skin with much less texture. I then switched out jojoba oil for rosehip seed oil since it basically is supposed to do the same thing but also fade acne scars better and i'm having similar results as I did with the jojoba oil. Definitely look into them, they were game changers for me.

Try using a natural oil combination as moisturizer, you should find something in your health food store - It was a game changer for me! The oils sinks in, moisturizer which are cremes often sit on top on your skin for longer, because they try lock the moisture in - that leads to pore clogging! I use a real gentle cleanser (soap bar) and than the oil :) I hope it helps! I also had really dry sensitive skin & acne before...

AllTimeFallOutAtTheChemicalDisco I have extremely dry skin and never had acne so I can’t help there, but when it comes to dry skin Lush Sympathy for the skin is the best cream I have found for feeling hydrated (body not face) Tarte rainforest of the sea drink of H20 face cream is hydrating and more of a gel so it’s not super heavy so that may allow you to hydrate without getting too oily in your oily spots.
@2901Kimberley
@2901Kimberley 5 жыл бұрын
If you feel dry and tight after showering, it means your natural moisture barrier is damaged and your skin is dehydrated. Try to look for ceramides/cholesterol/fatty acids in skincare products. Shower at a lower temp so you lose less moisture. For dry skin, an oil cleanser or milky cleanser is better than water for cleansing. Use watery essences/lotions (Asian skincare have these) to hydrate your skin and lock in that hydration with an occlusive cream.

If the comments dont help, theres never a problem with seeing your personal dermatologist! just another tip for all your skincare people out there, see if you have a local soap making store in your area, there are a lot of products they sell that are great additions to your skincare! I personally buy bulk green clay and bentonite clay, also tiny pumice granules to use as an exfoliant. For an exfoliator, you want something that is small enough to get into your pores and clean out but big enough to not get stuck in there and you don't want something that can break down into smaller pieces, so pumice stone is great because it is quite hard! I also buy bulk jojoba oil and hyaluronic acid which are great for acne! Also if you have some stubborn pimples try a honey mask or spot treatment with aloe vera. Honey is naturally antibacterial and full of antioxidants, aloe vera is anti-inflammatory, has vitamin C & E & is antimicrobial. Jojoba oil is also AMAZING for acne-prone and oily skin, i have the crazy oily skin & it's awesome to slather it all over my face at night, jojoba is similar to the oil that you skin already produces so it helps regulate the amount your skin will make & it's anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, full of antioxidants and high in vitamins and minerals :)

No tea no shade but these routines are quite complicated. I am a former cystic acne sufferer and I just use the following: Morning: 1. Cetaphil oil control face wash 2. Cetaphil SPF 30 oil control moisturizer Night: Same face wash, then finacea gel from my dermatologist. I’m also on spiro (an oral medication). I should probably add a nighttime moisturizer eventually, but don’t want to overwhelm my skin. I also use pimple patches if I get the occasional small pimple. Tl;dr don’t feel like you have to buy super expensive products or have a super complex routine to improve your skin. Genetics plays a big role in things like acne - don’t get sucked into buying a million crazy expensive products. Try to go see a derm if you can.

These routines feel like overkill. Each person featured probably spends over $150 just on skincare products, and that's not even counting makeup. Idk about you, but I can't afford that. I use Soap and Glory peaches and cream cleansing wash in the morning when I get up, as well as at night when I shower. I follow it up with Olay moisturizing face lotion both times. Then, before I put on my makeup, I use Bare Republic tinted mineral sunscreen with SPF 30--this acts as a primer and BB cream too. Each item is $8-$12 depending on where you buy it, so I spend about $30 on skincare every two months.

I am using petroleum jelly to remove my make up after that clean my face with wet cotton from tap water. Then apply Loreal Re Plumper or any loreal night cream. When I wake up I just waah my face with water and apply again cream on my face while it is damp. I dont use any soap or facial wash for my face, just plain water. During weekends, I do facial steam for 10mins. I just put water and olive oil on my rice cooker and while water is boiling, I put my face on the steam (of course with enough distance) then cover my head with big towel enough to trap the steam. After that I clean my face with cotton, get my nivea cream in the fridge and do face massage, then remove it, then apply my peel off facial mask for 15mins, when I'm done, thats the time that I apply my face cream. It works for me, no pores face, face like a baby skin as my friends says. And I'm doing this for more than 10 years already. Simple products only and simple steps.

I just did a requested video on my lazy girl skincare routine that I have been using for about 5 months now to get rid of my severe cystic and hormonal acne (so severe that my late mum even though she was battling cancer was worried about my face). My face is 98% clear of acne but I still have post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. However seeing the products line up of the first girl made me feel like my routine is kind of inadequate. I hope to add a Vitamin C serum and Hyaluronic serum to my routine.

Hi everyone! I’m going around skincare videos sharing tips. I have been doing skincare for 4 years, and do too much research. 1. Wash your face with an oil cleanser if you have oily skin. The oil in your face mixes with the cleanser, making it easier to remove. 2. Don’t overwhelm your skin with too many products. I’d recommend just a makeup remover, oil cleanser, water cleanser, and oil free moisturiser. 3. Natural products are best. Chemicals irritate the skin. If you have sensitive skin, this is even more important. 4. Do your research. Search up what a few of the main ingredients do, because, for example, you don’t want something that says ‘dries out skin’ if you have dry skin. 5. Be consistent. Your skin will get used to a product after a week or 2, which can lead to spots or irritation if you change products after.

This was actually very helpful for me since my skin is sensitive but prone to hormonal acne like the first girl. I only use organic products, aloe vera and tea tree oil and usually they help when my hormons are not crazy, but I never thought about adding niacinamide and retinol. I'll give it a try! I just found a serum that has vitamin c, retinol, niacinamide and tea tree oils so fingers crossed 🤞

I appreciate the intention behind the video but also kind of wish they actually analyzed and confirmed the skin type each of the women have, especially since this is already a very individualized consultation for each of them. I think a lot of women (myself included) try to get products based on their skin types so I wish the dermatologist could've addressed that more directly with each one. Definitely also agree with the other comments with having people with actual skin problems and/or are skincare newbies

I watch KZbinrs without a professional designation that are more informative than this video. Honestly, I'm not sure what I was expecting. It's rare that I watch videos like this and am impressed. Also, you don't need to wash your flipping face in the morning. There's literally no need if you're doing a proper double cleanse at night and then applying product - you're just literally stripping your skin of it's natural oils. Unless you use something overnight that needs to be washed off, just use a washcloth. Btw - antioxidants don't just fight "pollution". They fight oxidative damage caused by free radicals, among other things. The third girl has gorgeous skin.

The last time I heard a dermatologist talk about it, she said Vitamin C products weren't really recommended yet, because there wasn't any scientific evidence that they had any topical effects, compare to things like retinol; has that changed now? Also, isn't Niacinamide and retinol a no-no together? (though I guess if you'd splitting between day and night.)

I used to use a lot of products on my face and my face was looking great, but was very rough. So I thought it was best to leave my skin alone, so I am trying thirty days of just leaving it alone. So far I have just splashed it with water, and moisturized, and my skin has never looked better

Dr. Wu recommended niacinamide to Bianca which is great I use it BUT it was recommended to her to use in the morning which I don’t think is smart due to the fact that Bianca said she uses Vitamin C in the mornings. It was recommended to me not to mix Vitamin C and niacinamide because it can cause irritation or for them both to not work.

I like the concept of the video but I think it would’ve been helpful to have a list of ingredients for each product printed off for the dermatologist to skim and review prior to filming (and could reference in the video). It seemed like a broad overview of yes, retinol... yes, double cleansing etc. however, I wonder if she would’ve cut any specific products knowing what they contained (essential oils/fragrance, denatured alcohol, sulfates etc.).
