"We need you to stay out of our crime scene". BUT.... has an actually crime been committed yet, OR are they merely doing an investigation to Determine if a crime has been committed? This would apply the same as them saying,.. "You're obstructing our investigation" by your mere presence. So basically do you Actually need to stand behind the tape if there is NO Crime? As in this case,... (putting the assumptions aside) what if this fire was an accidental or naturally occurring fire? Then there would be NO crime committed, so NO crime scene. Anyways,.. just a thought. Keep on Keeping On TIGER.
