I know of a couple of federal employees who go to work to sit in an office with zero personal human interaction. All they do is answer calls IF they feel like it. Approx 7 hours all they do is surf the web, and watch KZbin vids, as unbelievable as it may sound, one of the employees took a comforter to be able to take a nap whenever the sups were out of the office, which they were most of the time btw. These ppl get paid between 40 to 60 dollars per hour, depending on their seniority level. I know about this because I was a contractor at that federal building. I was allowed and able to move around. I was quiet and kept to myself, but I saw the waste of resources and the amount of money these ppl were receiving so they can watch KZbin, sleep, and do pilates amongst other stuff. So, yeah, the fat must be trim. Absolutely useless positions, we are paying those leeches to be comfortable and rude to the public whenever their "nap" is interrupted. This testimony is 💯 true. If I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. So, if you think this statement is made up, I get it, I understand, but unfortunately it is true 😶

Cool badass "hot take", but in either the public or in the private sector, there's value and productivity benefits to teleworking. Every workplace needs metrics and those dont matter if in the office or at home to fulfill.
@bridiesmith511013 күн бұрын
@ public service sector workers have no right to demand to work from home. There job is to serve the public and not pick and choose when they want to go into the office. If they don’t like it, find a job that they do like or work from home at your own business. Not many people have homes that they can dedicate to have an office which no one else can access. Some people I know who have worked from home because there job is stand alone, have realised, they have missed out on promotion opportunity’s because they are out of sight and although did their jobs, were not included in the ‘office chatter’.
@srobeck7713 күн бұрын
@@bridiesmith5110 and you also "have no right" to set terms of their employment. So I guess your whole logic is out the window, since telework is currently allowed for some positions.
@bridiesmith511013 күн бұрын
@ agreed, but if you apply for a job that requires you to be in the office then you have no right to expect to work from home. Telemarketing working from home is appealing as there are no standards set. Dealing with those working from home have limited access to systems and no access to banking data. We found this out recently when trying to change a method of payment. It was such a nuisance we cancelled our contract. What was being asked was an easy process but due to home working no longer is. Just my experience and I know not an unusual one. Work ethic has now gone.
