That chippy at the harbour was definitely a Harry Ramsdens, certainly when I lived in Leith as a student back in 1996.. interesting wander around an area I often overlooked. I stayed in Pilrig just off Leith Walk think it was Spey Street.

Thanks, once again, for sharing your memories! 😀 Things have changed so much since 1996 (we moved to Edinburgh in 1993). ☺️

Really enjoying your vids Roger and this was one of the best. I’m going to visit Leith next time I’m up there now (which I guess is the point!). Nice one 😊👍

Great video mate! Edinburgh has a spectacular 12 mile coast line from the 3 Forth bridges at South Queensferry,all the way round to Portobello! Visitors must go there,as well as the other famous bits of the city!

Many moons ago we stayed at a hotel just off Newhaven harbour. We went to Leith port but we did not go into the town. Maybe we'll have to go back.

Hi Roger I wasn't aware of Newhaven Harbour or Portobello Beach. I'm planning on coming up to Scotland/Edinburgh one day and I'm grateful for this video. One of my work colleagues visited Leith in September, may have to stay longer than a weekend!!

The Shore at Leith has become a real centre for great cafes, bars and restaurants and is well worth spending some time there. Thanks for watching!

you read my mind, Rog!! I was planning my next visit in Edinburgh (in April, so far!) and I don't want to miss Portobello, Newhaven and The Shore. I'm so surprised you succeded to make them in one day. I always forget that Edinburgh is a tiny pretty jewel, from the Castle to the North Sea. amazing, thank you Rog!

Thanks Laura. I reckon I did the the video in just over 3 hours - so with a full day you definitely get to see more (and spend some time in one of the cafes, bars or restaurants). 😀

@rogEdwardTV I have a last question: do you think it's a long way to walk from The Shore towards Newhaven?

Laura you can do that walk in 30-40 minutes tops. It’s not too far.

Great video Roger but how times have changed! When I went to school in Leith in the 70's there weren't any deli's, Michelin starred restaurants, or independent coffee shops

Thanks Jim. Leith has totally transformed over the last 15 years for sure.

I'm glad you can get to Leith by tram now. When I stayed in Edinburgh back in 2019, one day I walked all through fom Princess street to Leith and another day I took courage and walked from Canongate to Portobello beach. As you may realize I love walking and don't regret doing it as it was worth visiting those picturesque places.
@RogEdwardsTV2 ай бұрын
It's great to have the tram as I tend to walk one way and get the easy way back (or vice versa).

That's a typical lazy Sunday for us, going to the Shore and Newhaven! Next time you're there you should check out the Irish Dude on Ocean Drive, he does great coffee too! Nothing against Porty, but it is usually too busy! Do like the Cullen Sink in Miro's though

Who needs Côte d'Azur when you've got Edinburgh! Seriously, in the summer it actually just might offer a better value: all of the comforts and none of the rowdy crowds. That fish-n-chips stand sealed the deal for me. Poke!

You should do some other reviews around Edinburgh by district. Try out some local restaurants. Cramond village would be a great start and what about Colinton Village , Hillend or South Queensferry? Rather than buying a day ticket on the phone I believe you can tap a bank card as many times as you like and it won't go above £4.80.
@RogEdwardsTV2 ай бұрын
Great ideas. Might be my winter projects for when the days are shorter. Cramond is a good shout.

@@RogEdwardsTV Colinton village nice as well and the famous painted tunnel. Swanston Village smart looking and South Queensferry for its views of the bridges. Of course you could be a different blogger and do the roughest parts of Edinburgh . That would be an eye opener.

Yes there is. Just search for either “Lothian Buses” or “Edinburgh Trams” in the App Store! 😀
