Berlin was a deceptively "simple" composer and this is one of my favorite songs from possibly his best score - I also love I Got Lost in his Arms - Berlin was never better than when writing torch songs with a gentle ache about them (who can forget Rosemary Clooney caressing Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me? In White Christmas)? Moonshine Lullaby is musical perfection - the gentle rocking rhythm of the train tracks underneath, the sweet tenderness of the tune, the blue notes reminding you of the period of the shows' composition - and when the backup guys come in on the chorus it's pure bliss. Lovely to hear you sing and play it so sweetly I'm reminded of seeing Bernedette Peters sing it in the Broadway revival (actually saw it twice) creating magic by sitting quietly, surrounded by sleeping babes in the moonlight - A song so perfectly matched with the vulnerable, slightly bruised sweetness of her voice.

Very cool, Dylan. Now I need to watch "Annie Get Your Gun." Oh, by the way, your voice is amazing!
