Not going to be silent any more... I am a victim of racial violence while cycling, directed at me in front of my children because I am white. Do you care? ONLY a true racist would not care. Do you care? The young men attempting to kill me with rocks and wood and pushing me into traffic also called me a racist would hundreds of times. I would I would never, have never called anyone.

THANK YOU SOO VERY MUCH FOR MAKING THIS. I’m not gonna get into personal issues I’ve had in live when it come to things in this topic because I’d be here for a very very long time. I just wanted to say thank you…this nonsense has gone on too long and weather I’m in uniform or not there’s a difference in the way I’m treated in life. Things (life) cost me more, certain situations have different consequences etc just to name a few. But stumbling across this vid was soo unexpected and refreshing. I just subscribed. I hope to bump into you some day on the trails I live in Colorado, idk where you are but I hope one day I bump into you. Thank you for joining the fight from the depths of my heart sir….I appreciate you and your love for humans. Your right it’s not a political issue it’s about what’s right or wrong. Thank you.

I can’t count how many times someone in the MTB community has said “don’t get political.” I understand that we live in a country, polarized by Republican vs Democratic views, and when people are riding bikes they don’t want to think about politics. What I don’t understand is when human decency became a political issue. It’s not. It’s a human issue. Thank you Joseph for risking subscribers because we both know that subscribers mean nothing when we are talking about respect for human life - and yet some will leave. But at least you can say you did something to not allow the MTB community to be a safe harbor for racism.
@Jon-nz3dm4 жыл бұрын
the mtb community never has been and never would have been a "safe harbor for racism". and I don't see how silly white guilt from 1 man would change that if things were that way.
@TrailFeatures4 жыл бұрын
Jon, take a good hard look at how many non-white sponsored riders there are in MTB. Then go listen to the experiences of the many non-white riders who are posting their stories all over the web right now. At best the community may be more accepting, but the industry needs a reboot. It's the same way we've been ignoring the toxic bro-culture in MTB. Which, when the time is right, I'm hopping to address in some way also.
@TrailFeatures2 жыл бұрын
One, you’re trying to over simplify the issue by using statistics that you probably don’t understand. Two, I like how I triggered you so bad that now you’re going to spend all day going through the comment section trying to make sure everyone understands exactly how mad you are that I said racism is bad.

But I also wanted to kindly remind that not all people "protesting" against racism and police brutality against blacks, are actually concerned about this issue, hence they are ironically using brutality to...you get the point. They are paid to riot and destroy, and I hope that you will not give credit to those who do not deserve to get it. I mean what does destroying peoples businesses and stealing dozens of cars from a dealership have to do with solving this issue, right? Wish you all the best. God bless.

I have a differing opinion to you, and while I will not stop watching your videos because of it, what you should be prepared for is, a healthy debate from people when putting your views out there publicly. The issue I have with the term "white privilege" is that it makes a generalization and an assumption which is one of the major principals that the black life matters movement claims to be against. It's also a loaded term which is impossible to defend against and you can't just assume that every white person has had an advantage. (Even if it really exists?) Next, I want to agree with the saying..."Black lives matter!" They most certainly do! But so do whites lives, Hispanics lives, Asians lives, and everyone else's lives. The issue I have with this term is that it only seems to come up when a police officer kills an African American. If this movement was really about saving African Americans, shouldn't it be as equally outraged when black on black violence occurs in the inner city? Or shouldn't it be equally outraged when a gang bangers stray bullet kills an African American little girl? Or shouldn't it be equally outraged when rioters were looting African American owned stores in the inner city while supposedly being peaceful protests? All of these issues are equally as sad. But none of them get any deserving attention. Last ... It completely sucks that there is racisim in the world and everywhere else! But the entire movement generally defines racism as a thing that can only occur when it's a European American against a ethnic minority. If the movement was really against racism and stopping it... where is the outrage when Young African Americans were Targeting White people while playing the knock out game? Where is the outrage when ethnic minority entertainers, make their entire content about making fun of white people while on TV or on stage? Where is the outrage when an African American actor stages a beat down and then fasly blames it on opposing white political party members? Look I believe in treating everyone fairly. I really do! And I am not saying that previous injustices were not wrong, because they were! Nor am I trying to claim that the few injustices I listed above are just as bad as some others that occurred throughout history. And boy if the evidence proves him guilty, I hope they prosecute the officer who killed Floyd to the fullest extent of the law! But what I am trying to highlight is the overall hypocritical stance of this movement and bring light to it's selective and narrow sighted vision. What I would like to see is for this movement to stop being so selective in what it calls injustice and racism. Last for a movement that claims to be so tolerant of others, I can provide examples of horrible replies, threats, and even violence directed towards people who have opposing views points. Maybe you are ok with this? I don't want to assume. But if it were me... I would stick to mountain biking content and not want to be associated until changes are made to the movement.
