A few months ago, Principal Librarian Nicole Jordan did a deep dive into the Marian Anderson Collection at Penn Libraries. Among the fascinating discoveries were two versions of Florence Price’s arrangement of “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord," one of which was performed during a concert with The Philadelphia Orchestra and former Music Director Eugene Ormandy. These findings are what enabled Jim Gray to orchestrate the piece for a larger ensemble to be performed in Marian Anderson’s honor at the Great Stages Concert on June 8.
