That’s an oversight from him! That road had been planned for decades but never actioned. This is the same as the Badagry to Sokoto, at some point a reasonable government will pick it up. Hope he can find opportunities in this disappointment, perhaps expand east towards Akwa Ibom and Calabar beaches.

True, but in Nigeria if major investors navigated around "planned" roads and spaces, literally no investment will happen. To your point it means anyone with the ability to invest a particular axis from Badagry to Sokoto will have to wait till "some point" which could be sixty years. There is no way the fed govt won't find a more practical solution than to build over one of the citiy's few significant leisure/tourist mainstays, not to mention a significant employer. That would just be top-10 dumb even for Nigeria.

The local "leisure class" among all ethnicities is concentrated in Lagos unfortunately. To a lesser extent Port Harcourt. So there is not a market in Akwa Ibom/Calabar to justify an investment the scale of Landmark. The play for Akwa Ibom/Calabar is really a foreign play, but that then requires a major campaign in the West and maybe East (China) to change narratives about any part of Nigeria as a tourist destination and to ensure a 1000% secure environment, which that region typically is anyway. Lagos also dominates the Nigeria narrative for both good and bad. I think the right entrepreneurs working with Akwa Ibom/Calabar can position that region as the "Nigeria you never know existed" or something.

I disagree. I am sure he had lawyers who did a search and should have informed him that this was "government-committed land." Usually any purchase of such land is not entitled to any form of compensation because such a purchase would have been deemed illegal. The fact that the government has asked him to submit compensation claims is proof that there was no previous concept of this road passing through where his investment presently stands.

I don't think its wise to respond engagingly to you. I have seen you comment very interesting things on here. Read up. They actually changed the plan from the original plan. Stop peddling that "planned for decades" story. Cheers!

I left a comment on ministry of works youtube channel pleading with them not to touch landmark resort.Apart from the huge loss the demolition will be to both lagos state and Nigeria,it is sending out a very bad signal to investors, especially us Nigerians in the diaspora.Who in is right mind would want to bring investment to Nigeria then if government can just demolish such investment without considering the hard work what it takes to get this place up and running. The road need more world class resorts like landmark beach resort why demolish an already established one?l hope the government come to their senses and do the right thing by realignment, away from landmark resort.Thank you.

@@bibi2673 It is the best beach in Nigeria and everything is overpriced in Nigeria anyways.ls that why the government is trying to destroy it,not minding what the owner has invested and gone through?

So landmark should hinder infrastructure development in Nigeria, right? That is what you are suggesting. Una never ready for that Nigeria. Just look at your reasoning. A 200 million dollar in vestment should stand on the way of an almost 1 billion dollar investment. This why Nigeria is the way itnis today, because pf people like you. One man profits and stands in the way of millions of men hindering them from profiting.

@@fatfarmers7360 l cannot believe you are saying this,200 million dollars from an individual compared to 800 million dollars by the entire federal government, which one is bigger?lf you are destroying 200 million for 800million invest, that investment is technically 1 billion then not 800 million. There are better ways of doing things, surely the road alignment can move out a bit,it does not have to pass right on that spot. Many cities and even state governments in Nigeria do that everytime,it's the reason most roads are not in a straight line, they avoid important building and investment.l think there is more to this story,l still don't believe any government will demolish a private business worth 200million for 800million investment, doesn't add up.

I don't see a big deal here. If the government wants to demolish it, they will pay compensation to Landmark. Then he moves the resort to a new destination. Or did the government say they would not do that? I'm just asking.

So the destruction of Igbos businesses continues in Lagos. Landmark Beach is thy latest. NAIRA (NEVER. ALLOW. IGBO. RULE. AGAIN.) Igbos should stop investing in Lagos.
