Wrecks, a massive 19th century Rodgers anchor, huge schools of Bigeye Scad; Bogas; silversides; and creole wrasse. Also, you will experience a massive elkhorn coral, a pregnant scrawled filefish, and more!
This episode is a highlight reel of the past week’s diving and it shows you how amazing Bonaire is to dive. Explorers as we all are, let us take you to places you may have never thought of looking. Also, for the first time we have some KZbin subscribers that came with us on one of these amazing filming dives - a big shout out to Chase, Bob and Tyler for reaching out to come along. We also want to thank Steve Ando, an award winning underwater photographer, for creating capturing the images of this episode’s thumbnail.

I wish you were my dive buddy! The way you settle into a place and take in the little things. Most commercial dives move too fast to do much photography.

I think it is essential to better understand marine life and just have a more rewarding dive experience. We are having one of our videos screened at the San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition in October and I think this was one of the criteria for selection. People are looking for a more in depth experience. Thank you for that wonderful feedback! You really made our day.

I watch these vids and never see some of my favorite dive sites... The White Hole ( vs the blue hole ) and the 1800s schooner that only a few people know about... used to be a family of divers who would make that dive each year as it still has cases of booze on it so they would go there each year and grab a bottle from the wreck.. There is also an older anchor in the Park area...
@ADiversLife
@ADiversLife Жыл бұрын
We have dove white hole numerous times but we have not filmed it. That dive is coming up in March. To film you really need a private charter to the hole. Otherwise, others on the boat get in the way of filming or scare the marine life away. Is the schooner on the east coast or west coast? I don’t know about the anchor in the park. If you message me on the locations we can work on getting these places filmed and try to research the history about them to include that in the video. Happy to give you credit in the video too.

Thanks Rich for the idea!! After watching this we went to Tolo today We were first greeted by a school of large horse eyed Jacks. After losing them we turned to find the school of Bogas! The ballet was stunning as a single bar jack chased. The changes of direction of the school, the reflection of the light, were stunning! WOW!! I had already seen the Bigeye Chad school at Pink beach. (On the plane I was shown a picture by Mrs. Ando who guaranteed the baitball/school). And Pink Beach delivered!

That is wonderful! The water has been relatively cool at only 27 Celsius for some time and this has fantastic for the coral and healthy coral means more fish. It will all make exciting photography opportunities for you. I hope you will be able to come back soon and take advantage of it. All the best.

Hi Chris, I recall that too. Hurricane Lenny took it all out in 99. It all ended up at the base of the wall there which is why I looked for that ray you saw hiding in the sand. It saw my dome port looking like a giant eyeball predator coming toward it and it freaked out. I shot it at 60 FPS which allowed me to slow it down enough so we could see it in the video. Another great place to see the stars is at Ladaña’s leap and Spelonk lighthouse at night. Milky Way spread across the sky.

Very impressive. I did a week in Bonaire this past July and came back for 2 weeks in November. I can't wait to go back and am hoping to do two or three 2-week trips there next year. I cranked out 48 dives on the 2 week trip. I made 102 dives total this year and 66 of those were in Bonaire.

Hi Chris, great to hear from you and thank you! I am collecting new camera gear which I hope to put into use in a few months. So, picture quality should be even better. We are so glad you are enjoying the videos. It was rewarding to go diving with some of our subscribers in the last month. The family who joined the first wreck shoot watched it 6 times already. All the best!

@@ADiversLife - a good marketing strategy. Their friends back home will hopefully watch too. A few more subscribers and more watch hours and from there it begins to build on its own.... they tell two friends, and those tell two friends... and so on and so on.... ;)

Hi Rich, I am a long time visitor to Bonaire who recently purchased a condo in Hamlet Oasis. I have done extensive snorkeling and diving. I am always surprised by the lack of major predators, especially where there are huge schools/ baitballs. It seems to me there's an unbalanced of prey to predator. I wonder if you could comment on this. Are the barracuda predator enough?
@ADiversLife
@ADiversLife Жыл бұрын
There are sharks. They just are out deeper. There are plenty of Barracuda but they are also out deeper. I just saw a 7 ft barracuda at night in the second reef. Bigger fish need bigger prey to sustain them and the fishermen tend to take fish they should not like grouper. You will find bigger sharks off of BOPEC or deeper off the east coast. They are definitely around. Our friend ran into a 9 foot Caribbean reef shark at candy land a couple weeks ago. Another friend 2 years ago had a 9 footer slam his zookeeper in the same area. Stinapa has been tagging larger reef sharks off of BOPEC.
