Indeed the Philippines should be one of the richest countries on earth. It has incredible beauty, Nice weather, vast amounts of natural resources and an educated but welcoming people. Your one downfall is that you do not embrace capitalism but leftist ideology. It has destroyed your country. Marcos brought great wealth to the Philippines because he embraced the western capitalist mindset. Every leader since him has destroyed wealth of the Philippines. Hopefully young Marcos will embrace his father's legacy. The requirement of masks in the ranger station is so absurd but its what you leftists do. It's a sign post of the foolishness of leftism. I am soon coming to the Philippines to set up an orphanage. I will teach them to be true capitalists. Maybe one of them will grow up to be president. But if young Marcos does not radically get rid of the leftist system of governance, the Philippines is headed for disaster. In the US, the leftist idiot now in charge is destroying everything he touches. This will literally kill many of the world's poor. Gas prices have more than doubled for poor of the world but it is just the tip of the iceberg. Everything is going to get much worse except for those places that truly embrace capitalism. So many South Koreans come to the Philippines for vacation. They have embraced true capitalism and it has made them wealthy. And South Korea has no where near the natural resources of the Philippines. If the Philippines ever embraces true capitalism it will be far wealthier than South Korea. I sure hope so but I honestly don't see it.

I did a lot of diving and underwater still photography in the Philippines from 1983-87 and 1990 returned for another five year tour during which I had a 10-meter boat constructed in Batangas giving it to our boatman when leaving. I did hundreds of dives around Anilao and also took trips to Apo, Moal Boal, Mactan Cebu, Puerto Gallera and El Nido several times. Tubbataha is still on my bucket list because it was the one well known dive spot I missed due to the difficulty getting there in those days. Back then we worried about the future of the reefs due to dynamite and cyanide fishing (to capture aquarium fish) and pollution. I’m very glad to see there is now an active conservation movement there and that in some of the places I’ve revisited via your videos things are much improved.
