We decided to visit the lovely county of Derbyshire - but all did not go to plan. We had booked to stay at the C&CC site at Hayfield but the location seemed to be under the flight path for Manchester airport, which meant the peace and quiet we had hoped for was not to be. We decided to only stay for one night and then move on to a site we had previously visited in Buxton. While we were at Hayfield we took the chance to cycle into the hills following the famous Kinder Trespass trail. That's when things took a further turn for the worse. On our return from a lovely cycle ride, Garry's bike got a puncture in the rear tyre which could not be fixed. Then when we stopped to check it, Caroline pulled up on the river bank but the her foot slipped and she fell off her bike and part way down the river bank. Unfortunately she managed to twist one ankle and the falling bike bruised her other ankle! So we had to revise our travel plans, travelling onto Buxton and spending some time resting up and trying to treat her injuries. We still managed to visit a couple of places from Buxton. We spent a few mornings enjoying the High Peak Bookstore cafe for breakfast and browsing the wide selection of books, many of which were half price. We also found the intriguing Errwood Hall which was built by a wealthy Manchester business man as part of a substantial estate.
