always thought it was a shame when mozzy sails seemingly stopped uploading his own sailing. your videos are living up to the high standards he set 👍 keep it up tom, your videos are all awesome

Hi Tom, great commentary and an interesting watch. We were doing our own commentary on you guys. It was interesting to see the speed x distance sailed come into play like that! And exactly the same roll on top happened to us going back up wind - my crew lost her footing and ended up getting dragged along by the trap wire… I was the only one on board who thought it was funny. Very happy to get some breeze come in for the next 3 legs though, with several kilometres of 2 on the wire. All the best from the crew on One More Toy

Thanks Trevor, sorry i got your boat name wrong in the video! It was a very interesting downwind and interesting to end up racing against a totally different boat. We were jealous that you guys got to do the extra lap, the breeze looked amazing!

Sweet Video Tom, Bummer about the camera. Super cool race format, great way to mix-up the standard windward leeward racing.

I enjoyed the different course, very interesting to think about water depth whilst going downwind! The camera is very dead, ill have to figure out something there before i go sailing next!

I use to work for Graham Hill who developed the Shark main for the Sabre. His dad was the bloke who 🦈 ed the Rainbow. It was 40 years ago and I think he saked me about 5 times before I left and went and studied engineering... Ive sailed both rigs on borrowed boats. It's a shame the class association voted it down, thanks to folk at one club signing up everone and their dogs to vote. The new sail lays off well for the women and lighter men. But can be powered up for the +90kg brigade. A definite improvement... Anyway, loving the video's. I have a very old Cherub (2729) that bearly gets out once a year. You're inspiring me to fix that... And do some more Swan River exploring on the little gree MDF boat too. Happy new year .

I visited Graham once when we needed a leech recut at the 505 worlds, he had a very nice little setup with his timber boat workshop and sail loft put the back, he was very helpful. I watched your MDF boat series, was very cool to see how it all came together just by eye! Look forward to seeing the cherub out on the water

That race sounds really cool! Hopefully your vids gets the juices going for a club or two up here in QLD, as Southern Vic is a bit far for a one dayer. 59er still looks like a ball of fun, I think I now like the point of difference rather than trying to battle it out in a one design/development class. I'll be keeping an eye out between my window shopping for Cherubs, Elliott 5.9 & 7. Also really like Vipers, but not sure I can fit one under my new house...

It is a really cool idea for a race, but i can understand it is a bit of a hike from QLD! A 59er is a great boat if you can find one and like hiking!

Happy new years Eve, Tom! I enjoyed this video, but different than your usual content! We used to have an F16 and the downwind runs were awesome! Great to see another boat! How did the drone go at the technician? I like the overlay too! I hope 2025 is a great year for you and your family! Thanks Tom

Thanks Finn, happy new year to you too! It is different to my usual content, not very often i actually go sailing! The drone got fixed but i may have crashed it into the shed whilst setting it up and now its going to get fixed again 😭 the F16 would have been great, i sailed a Viper a few times years ago and the downwinds were epic!

Geez! I don’t think the centreboard case would be too flash after that. We figured it was worth pushing it considering we were going quite slow in very light air, but we were more careful after that first time!

Great footage thanks, enjoyed the commentary. I’m from Sydney, race a Laser on the harbour, holidaying in Capel Sound. I think I could see this race from the shore a few days ago. Thanks for clarifying the different classes. Were there many Lasers and do you know how this class manage the variable winds between Rye and Rosebud?
@TomStuchberySailing
@TomStuchberySailing 17 күн бұрын
Im glad you liked it! This probably would have been the race you saw. From memory i only saw that one older laser going the other way. The variable breeze is just luck of the draw, this year i think the boats coming from the Rosebud end had a slight advantage, but next year it might go the other way!
