Bought a bottle of 3YO, and for it's age, it's a very solid dram for 10.99. I imagine it'll blend nicely with something older and smokey.

The Margot 3 Y ( 12 euro in Belgium ) : very good for that price !

The 5yo is quite good as well. To me it is a dram of choice when you're on a tight budget.

For the common man and even upper middle class, we can't drink expensive high quality expensive whisky. My everyday dram is red label or glenfiddich 12 yo. Too bad I can't find queen Margot here in Casablanca, Morocco

i bought a bottle this week just to try, its very nice whisky for the price. to me there is a very light hint of peat on the nose. i can taste some pear (maybe a touch of young glenfiddich) and strawberry cream

@@ADramADay366 thanks Kent! my old man loves single malt! but hes everyday is bells or grouse! would like to get him a gift and save some cash as well haha! whiskey is keto friendly so im slowly learning more and more about it! look forward to trying the margot later! i was gonna tell my dad i paid over 50£ for it see his reaction haha and tell him after its from lidl but im not that harsh haha

I tried this one just to see if it was any good. Quite frankly, I never liked the nose for its metallic, ethanol-rich notes. The first half of the bottle wasn't very pleasant, there is no finish whatsoever. BUT: the second half of the bottle is much better. It's quite a sweet, and mellow whiskey with some rich fruit notes. It is quite good for its price, but I probably won't buy it again any time soon. Personally, I'd give it a 6.7/10. The Ben Bracken NAS offerings - Islay and Speyside in particular - are better value in my opinion.

Thanks for going through the process - I had just assumed this was just another award that can be bought like the San Francisco whisky medals. I had no idea there was 'some' integrity to it, even if the headlines are clickbaity and out of context given that it is best in 'category'
