Nice surprise! I love this band so much...Where death is most Alive is 1 of the best concert dvd's i own. That Italian crowd goes nuts! Singing along even to the guitarmelodies. Mikael Stanne is such a great frontman, intense growls, charismatic. He does a lot of clean vocals too. Seen them 6 times myself, they never disapoint. Unfortunately i had to miss their show with Eluveitie and Amorphis recently. Amorphis is another band i would love to see you guys react to....and some more Dark Tranquillity in the future would be sweet ofcourse 😀 Greetingz from the Netherlands \m/

Hey!!! I'm SO glad you guys liked it!! I have to admit I was a little nervous ..lol ...So the awesome female singer is named Nell Siglund ...Her band is called Theater of Tragedy...I haven't checked them out yet but I think they are gothic metal...There is another awesome song in this set featuring Nell..Maybe I'll request that one in the future!! The band is from Sweden and are considered Godfathers of Swedish Melo Death metal along with the band In Flames ..

Just wanted to add on a little of Theatre of Tragedy here. First, Dark Tranquillity is my favorite band. But I used to listen to a lot of Theatre of Tragedy. The first two albums are very Gothy doomy, then becomes more elecro gothy, with a lead singer being Liv Kristine. Her work on those first two albums are SUBLIME. Didn't care much for them when they changed to more electronic sounding. Eventually Nell Sigland (the lady in the video you reacted to) came in 2004 and the band took on more of a... Contemporary synponic-ish gothy metal band.

Dark Tranquillity has been around now for 30 years. Yeah, 30 years. And their debut album "Skydancer" dropped in 1993. They are known as the pioneers of the Gothenberg Melodic Death Metal sound. Gothenberg is the city in Sweden from where they're from. A few other bands came from there as well, and play similar style music. In fact, the band In Flames is one of those, and very early on in these bands' existence, they swapped singers. Mikael Stanne, here, for Dark Tranquillity, originally started with In Flames, and what's funny is that there's a new Supergroup out this year, called The Halo Effect, has Mikael singing with band members from In Flames, as kind of an "for old time's sake" colab. Oh, I meant to also say that i first got into Dark Tranquillity back in 2005 with their 7th album "Character" which was getting several singles off of it. "Moment" is Dark Tranquillity's 12th album and was released in 2020. They're supposedly in the process of recording a new album, so i expect them to have that out sometime in 2024.

The man doesn't seem to crumble under pressure picking bands with their newer songs. Dark Tranquillity were literally one of the forefathers of the Gothenburg that swept the underground metal scene in the early to mid 90's. Then I guess they kinda went the In Flames route and made music to reach a more commercial market. Can't fault a band for getting their bag. There probably won't be another underground music scene that reached all corners of the globe anymore. The Gothenburg scene even ended up reaching all the way here in Australia thats how important it was. All before internet and social media. Just word of mouth in your local record stores.
