I still have my ceramic Asian elephant purchased in Little Saigon on Wilson Bl. In 1975. That area was a great (and inexpensive) place to shop/eat back in the day

Clarendon is tied with Ballston for the most walkable areas in Northern Virginia. Crystal City, where Amazon HQ2 is located will surpass both locations in the next 10 years if they build new condos that for sale versus luxury apartment developments. Carlyle on the western side of Old Town Alexandria is in the top 5 spot because of the ability to grab groceries, access to entertainment and plenty of restaurants that are open past office hours. Ballston is my favorite of the places mentioned on this list because you have a variety of housing options to choose from, several parks, two metro stops, a shopping mall, and a large public library. Ballston/Virginia Square in Arlington is my recommendation. You can find a townhouse or single family home near Quincy Park which will give you quick access to Giant (grocery store) and a short walk to the metro station.
