Great stuff. I was really following to see that road to Malindi coz I have been dreaming of using it. However, that security unit is not Kenya Army. It is the Border Control Unit of the Administration Police, a formation of the National Police Service. Their base is around Kanyonyo just after Matuu towards Mwingi and Garissa. Looking forward to the next leg.

The police and army that side wear similar colours to blend in... I have worked in Dadaab Refugee Complex and that was a question I asked a police officer while there. No one, not just an enemy, is able to tell the difference. Remember, we always believe that one force is stronger than the other. Mixing colours is among other reasons meant to debunk that notion.
