A family speaks out after 11-year-old autistic girl is bullied by classmate

A disturbing video of a young special needs child being bullied has been circulating on social media. The incident, once again shows how important it is for parents and caretakers to talk to children about bullying.

@@danpakoman if a adult assaults a person they get charged, same should happen if a child assaults someone. Children can kill people. Society needs to start taking bullying seriously. Some of these bullies have parents who are drug addicts or alcoholics. Children need to learn to take responsibility for their own behavior.

They learned it from somewhere. The parents from generations past weren't saints either, for some it was worse. A lot of sweeping physical abuse, sexual abuse/assault under the rug for the baby boomers....that messes people up. Then in The 80's and 90's, lots of parents were on drugs...i.e. crack, meth....etc. It's no wonder people, not just kids, have no respect for one another....look at who raised them first before blaming it all on the kids. A lot of people grew up in the system with no one there to raise them in the generatoon X, so they had no good example to refer to when they became parents. No excuse, but let's not act like the older peoples generations were all fine and dandy.

I think the bullies parents need to have a sit down with the principal. Just to let them know what happened. They might not know. It's sad that this happens. At least she told her parents! How many others is this happening to at this school? She can't be the only one being picked on?

So sorry this happened to your child. My daughter was bullied all through elementary school and into middle school. Any time she would report it to the teachers she was told to stop being a tattle tale. The teachers need some sensitivity training. Some of them are so disgusted with their low wages and having to babysit kids all day that they don't want an extra job of having to resolve conflicts in the classroom; especially dealing with bullies.

The child who assaulted her classmate, needs to be tried as a adult. That will drive home the point to both the bully, and the parents of the bully that you can't go around bullying people.

I’m 71 born and raised in Hawaii. There was a lot of bullies on and off campus back in the 60’s. I think the politicians and school system should push for stronger penalties against these people. I fought but some people can’t!

This makes me so sad, my son is autistic and Im glad he did not endure anything like that. Something is wrong when a person knows and willining beats up or hurts another person knowing that they have a disability. Props to the mom cause I dont know what I wouldve done if it were my son.

I've been bullied from elementary to high school and tbh I've been both the victim and the aggressor because and most fights I was the attacker if someone keep pushing my buttons or got in my face like i was a chump which caused me to get suspended numerous times

@@Sharyk808 I walk my daughter to school she is 12 years old and I have pepper spray in my hand with my finger on the button and she carries one with her finger on the button she knows how to aim I raised her that way. Raised in self-defense going to shooting ranges since age 5. I know Hawaii tends to be a very Christian state but sometimes you just cannot turn the other cheek you have to fight or at least defend. Yes some kids do you know how to shoot pepper spray and yes it is very realistic they don't have to keep it in person wait for everything attacks having constant ly hear about the 9th grader rape and McKinley High School by a boy with a gun and axe

It depends on autism spectrum. I had a coworker who had Asperger’s syndrome. If no one told me I wouldn’t have known. He trained me. Told his single mother, She raised a incredible young man. Asperger's syndrome. This is on the milder end of the autism spectrum. A person with Asperger's may be very intelligent and able to handle their daily life. They may be really focused on topics that interest them and discuss them nonstop. But they have a much harder time socially.

And this wasn't a girl with Asperger's, it was a young girl who was said by the mother that can't process the world and the world around her which comes back to where was an adult or parent and why wasn't there correct supervision for this young girl of 11 years old off school grounds b

My neighbors kid went to this school and there was this girl that threatened to harm other students and specifically targeted this disabled kid but there was probably something wrong with the girl that needed help with i felt bad for the kid both of them
