Hard to believe Sir Ron Priestley ran such a massive race running on a career ending injury! Awful sad for connections but at least he is able to retire now after a very respectable 3rd and winning the best turned out award!

This is a great race Together with the Derby the whole thoroughbred industry should consider this an ultimate test of the breed. Left handed, right handed, uphill, downhill. A horse that wins the Derby, the St Leger at 3 then the Coronation Cup, Goodwood Cup and Doncaster Cups at 4 should be the ultimate example of the thoroughbred animal. Then add on the Ascot Gold Cup at 5.

@@robertdelacy3434 I bet him also, just had a feeling. It's so hard if you are backing O'briens horses in a race, to know which is going to win , I mean beat their stablemate. All the hype before the race ( the Epson Derby ) was English King , a racing certainty, Kameco was very well supported. Piledriver is a good one, but has his days, he can be a little rascal at times. So their was good and very good in that particular race. Not every Derby, every year has the greatest horses of all time. But if we are lucky we get to see some horses that set a standard, horse who improved the Tb as a whole.

Probably the worst group 1 ever run. Winner couldn't win a group 3 and couldn't win a class 2 handicap. So this race realistically isn't a group 1 it's more of a listed race. The level of racing over the years has gone so.bad. the only thing difference between this race and listed race is the prize money. 🐕💩
