I own a Saffier 26. She’s a beautiful little boat! Easy to single hand and comfortably sits 6. She’s given me loads of wonderful days on lake maggiore near Milan where I live.

This boat would be perfect for the majority of people wanting to get into sailing with the shoal draft. With that price point there are a lot of options!

Better to scratch up a $5K boat first.

Just looking at Saffier's website. That little SE 24 Lite looks awesome. Now that's a day sailer, tiller and trailerable

I’ll stick with my little Corsair 24’ tri with a rating of 30! Small enough to need no electricity at all, just small Tohatsu for a lot less money burning less than 2 gal over a summer of sailing from May into October. And gas reserves to get me home on windless or too much wind days. And how about 7-8 knots upwind healing 5 degrees or 17 knots off the wind with finger tip controls. We frequently carry my entire family of 14 easily. And did I mention the floats fold up with the manpower of a 75 yo 150 lb me and the mast system drops in minutes. And for the price I could buy 30 of these.

Stay away from multihulls, i like them but they get shredded in rocks

Youch ! Even if I finally won the Lottery , I'm still going to have to take a pass . It looks flashy fast but doesn't seem very practical in the winter .

The boat itself seems to fit a niche that will satisfy quite a few sailors. I do a lot of day sailing in my Coronado 25, but I believe my next boat would be a Catalina 30, I to prefer to cruise in comfort
@puertola718611 сағат бұрын
Nice. But I would instead definitely go for an Azuree 33c.

Good on Saffier for addressing an underserved niche in sailing. But if I wanted a boat for just daysailing I'd buy a used J/100 - and the shoal draft version draws 4.5 feet for those with shallow water.
@sunol121210 сағат бұрын
Outside the price - like it. At the price? Wow. Would be hard to do over a J 112e or a Tartan 365 once you get into those prices.
@albrechtschall21886 сағат бұрын
Very nice boat! But I cannot separate price from package. In this case I rather go for the J9. So far the J boats had bean faster too!!😀

$600k? I think I'd buy six J/100s instead and start my own club and invite 35 friends to come sailing (if I had 35 friends.) Nespresso machines optional.
@tim4005-k6c10 сағат бұрын
Fast and attractive with simplicity and full of the things that make sailing more accessible but less like sailing. I would go another direction (think Herreshoff Buzzards Bay 25). But it sure does seem like a sporty, fun, multipurpose daysailer. If that is the point, for $600k it ought to be. There are a number of designs that fit this niche for a lot less but this is a head turner for sure.

There is a 27' one of these at my club, Its been there a year and I've only seen it go out once, much like allot of Porche owners, I don't think the owner really knows how to drive it.

The J9 is the same kind of concept. I'm not sure of need for power winches on a 33' boat, maybe I'm just barely young enough to still think that way

Being Dutch, 4 feet nine is quite deep for Dutch lakes. It looks fantastic but if it is practical? To me it is just putting all the stuff which makes sailing a lazy sport on one model.

Old formula....Remember the Tartan 10?
@dogwapofthebarnowlbakery36552 сағат бұрын
Not sure I'd say that a 102 rating is at all sporty for a modern 33' sailboat, especially when you consider this one comes with no headroom and a high end price. And comparing this Saffier to an almost 50-year old Olson or a 25 year old J/110, both of which sell for a small fraction of the Saffier, is ridiculous. Consider the J/88 or J/111, both of which are significantly faster yet have full head room and were offered, at least until recently, at a lower price point. Not a J Boats fanboy, just familiar with their offerings.

Is it just me or does practical sailor seem like its just turning into a channel for companies to push sponsored content on? Its starting to seem like an online billboard for companied looking to make a quick cash grab and push crap boats that are way overpriced.

The boat is riding very well on flat water ! very fast ! Please, show us how the boat is riding ont the sea, not on a lake !
@stanleybest883312 сағат бұрын
The hull starts as exciting, but this pony has no tricks. It needs a folding keel and a scheme to take down the mast. I like aluminum masts better, because they are lightning protection. Casting a keel from the bulb to the top with lead is very dumb. The same for cast iron. The weight should be at the bottom. Sailboat powerplants could brighten up and lighten up. That kind of weight per pound belongs on a locomotive and the water plumbing is a nightmare. Electric sucks.

Good inspiration for interior design (closed 'wet head') and rigging on a cruiser sized 'day sailer'... setting standards like any sports car that is branded as 'Saphire' would for subcompact cars (to be 'pimped' with comfortable, dazzling accessories). The standard windshield proves what all spray hoods are to solve since their boats have left the yard without that superstructure... Dare the extra cost of conditioning a one eyed squirrel monkey to pilot the ship by just pushing the buttons... @atakd12 сағат бұрын
Yep, 7 figures is what it will take to attract those who consider paying too much a source of pride rather than embarassment. Meanwhile, I'll spend my $600k on a brand new X4³ and use the change to buy a big gold watch and a chunky pair of socks to stuff down the front of my shorts

Thats still a truck. A daysailer is a boat you can climb on beaches and that has pivot keel, that boat is an aberration, lazy and a scam you can build the same boat with plywood kit for 5.000
