The FEAR in Manly's voice at "Oh God you got a chainsaw?! No!" Was genuine lmfao That man got on high alert. His plan to stick to a wall was almost thwarted immediately. Developers said "Nice survival game mechanic. Would be a shame if *revs chainsaw*"

If you look at the photo in Mitsuka's room, THAT is Mitsuka and when you upload that photo it says the person died over 13 days ago. I believe what happened is that Mitsuka died at home at some point in the past due to something going on with her head, she had called her dad, but her dad was busy at work as is what we heard her say before at the park the whole "I like spending time with my dad, but he is too busy". He gets home from work, finds her dead, and feels extremely guilty for not having been there for her. He later must have seen Manami and thought she looked so much like Mitsuka that he believed she was his daughter. He kidnaps Manami and then something must have happened that caused him to kill her, probably the age-old "you're not really my daughter and I know that deep-down" and got too drunk or angry about it that he killed her. Afterwards, he was still working with the delusion that Manami was his daughter, but Manami is haunting him but when using the site didn't stop the haunting, he finally tries to use Mitsuka's actual photo on the site and that likely caused her to come back to out her dad to the police as to what he did. I'm guessing the mascot character might have been some kind of lore guardian of the kids, maybe in this case Mitsuka's mother's spirit was the one in the costume (since we don't know what happened to the mother in all this).

I think the daughter fell off the monkey bars and went home because her head hurt (the phone call saying, "Dad when are you coming home my head hurts"). And because the dad was very neglectful and always working he didn't come home until late. So when the dad came home he saw his dead daughter. I think the daughter has been dead for a while which would explain the trashed apartment. After not being able to cope with the guilt, he went to the playground to kindap a girl who looks similar to his daughter. Using the creepy mascot costume to lure a kid with, which is the same mascot the real daughter liked). Then he probably either killed her because he couldn't replace his real daughter. Or killed her to try and connect with his daughter via the website (because you use the photos of manami and then later the repeated photo of mitsuka). After uploading the first 15 photos you get a clip where the protagonist is chasing manami into the bathroom. Then something with the daughter and manami both haunting the dad. Haha sorry if this didn't make sense. But I loved watching Manly's playthrough of this!

i also saw it as the dad perhaps grabbing manami as a "test" subject--he catches her, dismembers her with a chainsaw, and then confirms the camera works. That's when he uploads the 15 duplicates, since it's probably too late to get spiritual glimpses of her. Mitsuka obviously still loves her dad, hence when he falls, and most likely enters the bad part of the afterlife, she jumps after him, also falling to that same bad place

I’ve read a couple different theories and I’m thinking Mitsuka the father’s actual daughter died much earlier by accidentally hitting her head at the park while he was at work. She ended up coming home and succumbing to her injury and he found her that night after she called him. Depressed and grief stricken, he found the website and because the death had to be within 13 days, he dresses up as the local mascot, as seen on the park posters, and kidnaps Manami because she looks similar to his daughter. He ends her life and uploads the pics probably trying to finesse the website because they look so similar. I think he is so delusional at the end he’s imagined seeing his daughter call the police, but he probably calls himself and then decides to self exit. I have no idea who the taller woman is… Maybe the dad is actually a serial kidnapper/killer idk.

The tall woman might actually be Manami, perhaps that is her form representing her hatred towards Mitsuka's Father. If you notice closely, the uniform she wore is similar to one of Manami

One would think he would keep her alive and force her to live out her life as his pretend daughter. The best theory in my opinion that I've read is that, in the video from the beginning, Mitsuka (the daughter) was playing with Manami (the girl that the father killed). In the end of the video, the camera is broken, and it's probably when Mitsuka got the head injury. And this is the reason why the father killed Manami. He blamed her for Mitsuka's death. (Clearly it was an accident and Manami shouldn't be blamed for it, but I'm more convinced by this theory rather than that the father was drunk.) The problem of this theory is that the line from the beginning "My daughter died in our local park". In the Japanese version, the line was 「先日、近くの公園で娘が死んだ」, the meaning is almost the same. Although it didn't actually said "my (私の)" daughter, normally if someone said "娘" (not "あの娘"), it means a daughter of themself. (If they said "あの娘" or "その娘", it means "that girl", but I'm pretty sure it can't be shorted to just "娘" in this meaning.) But the line is strange in any case. Even if he thought Manami was Mitsuka, considering that the only reason the father knew that she died in the park is that he is the one who killed her. Of course it can be explaned that he is not thinking straight at all, but it's not a satisfying explanation in my opinion. Also, I was thinking that if the mouse costume thing (its name's Mikey (マイキー)) is how Manami trying to take vengeance. The father chased her to the bathroom (the bathroom where the game started) so the costume did the same to him. He probably used a chainsaw to disassemble her body, so the costume also used a chainsaw. If it's true, Manami's spirit wasn't liberated at all. The website did give back a legit message in video form, so I think it's not fake. It can be that Manami is not his loved one so the liberation was failed. Anyway, I enjoy this LP. I'm suprised that you have almost done the park part without knowing the hint thing, good job! Sorry for my bad English!

_Sad story_ *Spoilers, obviously* I think the 2 girls were playing together after school. There is a quick scene of the daughter falling off a swing - both swings were moving in the photo shooting session. She called her father when she came home, saying she had a headache. I think she died from a concussion and the father found her when he came home late from work. I don't know if he blamed her schoolmate or just became crazed with grief, but the outcome was tragic. He chased that other girl through the playground. We saw in the photos where she played and where she hid from him, specifically in the bathroom where she tried to lock herself in the stall. He grabbed her, took her home, and drowned her. His use of the chainsaw resulted in all the plastic bags in the apartment. The final "message" was the daughter, as the ghost, calling the police and telling that her father was the murderer of the other girl. But I think that was just his vision, and it was he who confessed on the phone. As the sirens drew close, I believe he then jumped through the balcony window to his death. The reason we saw the mouse head was as an analogy of the daughter's toy --- of innocence lost and turned murderous. This was actually one of the scarier games from Chilla's Art. The playground at night was extremely spooky. And I appreciate MBH always respecting the feel of the game allowing me to be immersed in that scary atmosphere.

Mitsuka faints because she fell off the slide and got head trauma when she went to the park alone because her father was working, she comes back home and complains that her head hurts and this is when she dies. The father kidnaps Manami because she looks like Mitsuka but then he kills her after getting the missing person flier sent to his apartment (probably by drowning her in the tub and putting her body parts in the bags that are around the house). The mouse was Mitsuka's toy and I think is a manifestation of the protag's guilt. I'm not 100% sure about the older female ghost, I saw a comment here saying it was one of the girls' mothers and another theory that it is Mitsuka herself representing the age she would be if she had been able to grow up.

I think so too, when he uploads the photo of the girl from the bedroom, the website warns that the limit is up. It didn't warn that for the other photos of the school uniform girl. I think the daughter died before, and then perhaps in his grief the man kidnapped and murdered a girl who looked similar to his daughter. The warning on the website is also a bit odd and doesn't fully support my theory as it says the photos must be taken "within 13 days after death." So a photo taken before death wouldn't fit that timeline regardless of how long its been since the death. I'm just not sure why else the warning would happen there, from a narrative standpoint, unless it was to imply that the daughter has been dead a long time. Its also tricky ground because we're dealing with a language barrier that might be muddying the waters, and so the implication that a posthumous photo was required might not have been intended. Perhaps the father killed the other girl in the hopes of swapping their souls, like a bait and switch, send his daughter on after he missed the deadline in exchange for trapping another girl forever. It does bring up questions of who called the police. The ghost? idk how the mouse people fit in either.

Chilla's Art has done it again. This was seriously scary at times, I was on edge for a lot of this. Finding all the ghosts in the park was great, but what comes after was even better.

Someone from another comment section theorized that the daughter (Mitsuka) had a head injury and called her dad for help while he was at work, but he didn't arrive home in time to save her. Out of grief, he used the mouse character that Mitsuka liked to kidnap Manami Koudan from the park as a replacement to his real daughter. The dad killed Manami (either accidentally in a fight or for the website's photo ritual) and used the chainsaw and bags to dispose of her body. The mouse character and the adult ghost of Manami could be entities manifested through the website as a way to free Mitsuka and Manami's spirits by getting the dad to come to terms with the fact that he'll never get his daughter back (see the scene where he tries to submit pictures of Mitsuka to the website), and his punishment for what he did to Manami.

Here's my theory, the daughter had died prior before him getting off work. He went into a state of grief and longing before visiting the park they always went to. This is a common occurrence for grieving people to visit the place they made the most memories with the deceased. He sees a little girl that looks just like his daughter and kidnaps her. He was probably drunk during this moment as well. It should be noted that we start in the bathroom stall she was cornered in, so maybe that connects to something? I don't know though. So, she gets kidnapped, brought home, and forced to live the life of the deceased daughter. Eventually, he wounds her in a fit of rage and then drowns her in the bathtub. Drowning seems to be a common reference in this game. In guilt of his "daughter" not being able to pass on and therefore haunting him, he stumbles across the website and the games events happen. When he comes to the realization that the child was not his daughter, he kills himself out of guilt. The mouse is probably the school's mascot or something since it is in the park near a kindergarten and follows you home, maybe is a physical manifestation of the man's guilt and sorrow? In the end the daughter jumps off the balcony with her father to probably join him in the afterlife after finally being able to move on.

I translated the posters in the park with the mouse mascot on them. Its name is "Maiki" (which has several meanings but the most interesting one was "truth, reality, genuine") and the first poster was an ad with times when Maiki would be present to take a memorable picture with. The other one was basically a "No littering" warning.

Mitsuka likely hit her head when she was at the park without her father. She called her father complaining about a headache but her father was too busy work. As for the other girl, I don't think she was killed first I think he lost his mind and thought Manami was Mitsuka. But for whatever reason he drowned Manami. First off imo the Mouse character in the story represents two entities: 1) the FATHER (when we get introduced to the mouse figure, its the father's model with the mouse head. Mitsuka is also seen holding a mouse doll, so he probably has a mascot head in the house due to his daughter, which is what I believed he used when kidnapping/killing the playground girl Manami. 2) the POLICE which is why you see the mouse character in the beginning in all the posters. those posters were reminders to not litter. Knowing how many mascots Japan has for basically everything, it's not far fetched to say the mouse character represents law enforcement as well, which is why the mouse picks up the camera at the end, and why the mouse character actively chases us (because we playing as the dad, is a criminal so we would at this point be terrified of getting caught). it's a stretch, but I think Mitsuka may have liked the mouse character, or the father has some connection to that mascot which is why she has a mouse doll herself THE THEORY BELOW ISN'T ENTIRELY MINE, I saw a theory that someone said which made the most sense to me so I just wanted to share it with some changes of my own theory and observations: Mitsuka has died more than 13 days, so she's been dead for a while. We can correlate the phone call of her calling her dad (us) about her head hurting being the reason for her death. When the video of how Mitsuka died is revealed, she fainted in front of the phone and was not found by the dad until much later. We can assume that she died after that phone call. Filled with grief and guilt that haunts him for him neglecting her, her dad wanted to "liberate" her soul and he found that website. However, the website requires photos of the ghost of a dead person who died within 13 days. That's why he wears a the Mouse head to go kill Manami. In Manami's death video, she is seen running to a bathroom stall in the playground. At the start of the game, we are literally in the exact stall before she died. Now I'm not too sure whether the dad killed Minami in the stall or he kidnapped her, brought her to his house which is right across the playground, and drowned her in the bathtub (there were many photos indicating she drowned, especially the last camera scene where Manami's ghost comes out of the bathtub). I'm leaning towards the latter being more likely. Either way, the dad may have killed Minami, in order to snap her ghost photos to pass it off as his daughter on the website, in hopes to "liberate" the daughter's spirit. This didn't work, however, until the dad decides to jump off the building at the end when the police came, where the daughter only passes on by jumping right behind him (as seen where the photos of Minami from the park were uploaded, but Mitsuka didn't leave the dad until the end). The only thing I'm not too sure of, is the older looking version of Manami / mouse mascot. It could represent the dad's guilt of killing Manami, and that older version of her with the mouse head represents her basically becoming him and doing the same thing to him. I don't think that ghost is Mitsuka, since we do know how Mitsuka looks when she died or at least, before she died and she was not as old as the uniformed ghost. I don't think its the mother at all since, there is no mention of the mom so I think it would be weird to suddenly have the mom haunt you with 0 character introduction at least.

I wonder if the female mascot was the protag’s wife? Maybe she had tried to free Manami from her husband and he ended up killing her - that would explain her extreme aggression towards him. The main gap in the plot is why the protag killed Manami and where it happened; the dead bodies all over the playground and the apartment scene contradict one another.

For once, I think Chilla's did pretty well with the horror side of things. I'm not usually a fan of their games because they don't really feel like horror games, but I was pretty impressed by the atmosphere in this one. It's also really interesting that this is essentially a hidden object game.

I like these theories they are very interesting, but since people are wondering why the father would kill Manami if he believed it was his daughter, then this is my theory. Well did it not say that the girl died in the park? So maybe he drank a lot of beer before heading out and was extremely drunk. And he took the mouse mask because it reminded him of his daughters plushie, and he was still grieving. Whilst he was out in the park were they used to hangout a lot, he spotted manami, and because grieving can lead to people being very irrational + he's drunk, he tries to kidnap manami because he believes it is his daughter, but she's running away from him and maybe in a moment of extreme irrationality and drunk aggression he kills her brutally. Later he revisits the park to take pictures to "free her" but the truth is slowly coming out and he cannot be delusional anymore. However now he is losing his mind because his own guilt is there to haunt him and he is imagining all these things.
