A voice from Heaven....watching her waste away right in front of America broke all of our hearts.We were all so helpless.She could hit 5 octaves,and you would not believe the way she played drums.Such talent....

@@scottgelb2650 Her heart failure wasn't caused by anorexia. Her heart failure was caused by chronic malnutrition which in turn was caused by anorexia. Anorexia is a psychological disorder.

You can really see her go to another place, a sad place, when she gets ready to sing. And she was only about 20 years old here. Thanks for saying she was beautiful because she apparently never felt she was during her life ❤️.

@@MorenikejiTaiwo no sadly Karen Carpenter seemingly suffered from a poor self image among other issues in her life that led her into the disorder 'anorexia nervosa' and she died of heart failure due to complications from that conditon, she was only 32. She was lovely and blessed with that beautiful 3 octave vocal range but she did not know how much the world loved her, sad indeed.

I have read a number of times that when she recorded she usually nailed it on the first take. ---- They would do a couple more just to make the sound techs feel useful.

The way they go sad to happy is amazing. Minor chords = sad, major chords= happy. But they do it so seamlessly. Her voice is the voice of an angel also. She’s stunning.

Their harmonies were always so beautiful and perfect because Karen and Richard Carpenter sang their own back-up vocals/harmonies. Very unusual at that time. Richard was a genius at "arranging" music. Karen is always stunning with her perfect pitch, breath control and contralto voice.

I enjoyed your reaction to this beautiful song. When I hear Karen sing, her voice is so beautiful, like no one else I've ever heard sing. It's so soft and so strong and yet sad and happy at the same time and that the voice is just something that is so far advanced that it just puts you in another realm of beauty and in love with her voice. Words cannot express what I feel inside when I hear her sing her songs. A talent that is so beautiful. She sings with passion and feeling that makes the song come alive. I love hearing her sing. Mo, you did it again!! Great reaction to a great song. Sung by an incredible voice! My wife and I love the Carpenters! Their songs hit the airwaves the year we got married in 70's. We had the pleasure to see them perform live and it was fantastic! Karen could really play the drums. We still have their albums and still play them. Thanks Baby Girl!🤗❤

There's no such thing as being over dramatic when it comes to the way music can make one feel. Digging the "AM Gold" kick you've been on (AM Gold was a series of 'easy listening' albums from the 70s). So let me offer a couple of other great ones in the genre. "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" - Lou Rawls (I like this particularly because it's in my vocal range); "Summer Breeze" - Isley Brothers (the popular version was by Seals and Croft but I prefer this version); "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" - Dionne Warwick

There are only two singers that have lived that can give me goosebumps. Karen Carpenter and Floor Jansen of Nightwish. Never had goosebumps from any other singer that I can remember.

Karen was a tenor , that's where all the Carpenter's songs were arranged on that key . Perhaps one day you watch her life story it's sad but true . I miss you karen..
