A favourite kite returns - but not for long!

My 2,106th kite video. In recent times I've sold quite a few of my more valuable or sought-after kites, as I can't afford to keep them all. One of my favourites that I'd passed on has just returned on short-term loan, and I took the first opportunity I had to fly it.

The Rainbow Totem is colourful and unique. I haven’t seen a longish kite like this before. I like the smiley fox too.

Sadly the Totem is long out of production, but it's certainly a lovely kite. The Fox is a good novelty item.

The Totem is a superb kite, Ron, and I regret selling it, but I had to dispose of quite a few of my better kites. It's nice to have it back on short-term loan, anyway.

Strange, Carl, that I've never seen a Totem in your videos! The Fox is good but the cheaper ones from China were great fun too at a lot less money.

Thanks, Henk. I'm not doing too badly, although old age continues to advance. Our weather is not allowing so much flying at the moment, but I still go out whenever possible.

That Totem is one of the best kites I have seen you fly. Why did you sell it? Its stunning and so different.

I've sold a lot of kites, Kevin, as I couldn't afford to keep all of them, but I do regret selling the Totem (and some of the others!) I'm approaching my 84th birthday, and really don't need so many kites, but it's still sad when I part with one.

I don't have enough technical expertise to give a firm answer to that, but I don't see why it couldn't work, although it would require complete re-bridling of the kite. I think it would look good - a little like the Moon kite that I used to have.

When I saw it positioned on the ground I initially thought that's how it was going to fly.

Yes, that was a bit misleading, wasn't it? I did that to be able to show it bigger on the screen (assuming people are viewing on a horizontal screen, although you never know these days).

Is Totem’s bridle point can modify one point like Pointer

They are totally different kites, and I don't think there would be any chance of flying the Totem like the Pointer. I'm no expert, so I could easily be wrong!
