I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

Im pretty surprised Arya didnt make any mention or some sort of connection when Daeron said his orders were from "Lord Snow". She knew he was from the Nights Watch, and she also knew John Snow was there. Im surprised the mention of a Night Watch commander named "Lord Snow" is just a throwaway comment that slips right by her.

How absurd of Sam and Arya to judge Darion for freeing himself from the bounds of the society he was born in. Thats why I really like that the books are in POVs. You can see the flaws of the individual mind

But that's the point, man. It's Westeros, not planet Earth and more importantly, it was a medieval society. The importance of vows was held very highly albeit not many of them actually interested in keeping them. I understand that many of those vows were a bit far fetched and hard to maintain. Hell, even Samwell broke his vows but it just happened in a sort of accidental way and Sam wasn't quite himself at the time (being drunk and grief stricken from Aemon's death). Dareon on the other hand, broke his vows intentionally but that is not the reason to hate him. He completely ignored Samwell's pleas when Aemon was sick and dying. I mean, he didn't care a shit about it, Sam was begging him for help at the time which he could have at least done. And that is the prime reason why Daeron actually deserved what he got. Look, I'm completely okay with him breaking his vows but to ignore an old, sickly man is not a trait that I would admire.

It’s interesting noticing where George alternates between calling her by her new name(s), and as Arya, to show when she breaks character. In the Mercy chapter, she becomes Arya again when she’s with Raff, and here it’s when she’s first in the presence of Daereon, who shouldn’t be in Braavos.

This chapter specifically fills me with a strange nostalgia, and makes me very sad. If I had to pick a place to live in this setting, it would definitely be this city it’s the best and the least hierarchical. Arya could’ve really been happy here, there’s a reason the faceless men tempt her with this life later. if she could just let go of her hatred and desire for revenge, she could’ve built something here.

My favorite one off character in this chapter, and it’s an embarrassment of riches, is Casso the King of Seals. They should make an HBO series about him and Taganarro capering around Braavos instead of adapting that snooze fest Fire and Blood book.

I've heard they're the better and mostly unaltered versions of the dance with dragons (I'm not sure if they're about the dance, but it just made sense to me)

So when I first started listening to your videos, I would jump around and just pick ones that looked (from the photo) or sounded (chapter title) interesting. I picked this one early on because I thought it was going to be about Catelyn Stark/Tully being pulled from the canal under the Twins and made into Lady Stoneheart😂 WOW was I wrong🙈 I was also so incredibly confused, as well as let down. Now that I’ve actually been listening in order for a while, it’s much more enjoyable! But makes me even more embarrassed that I thought “Cat” meant Catelyn🙈🙈
