Although I disagree with you on A Feast for Crows (as I love this book), I will say that a lot of that love definitely comes from a reread. This book, probably more than any other book in the series, has so many lore implications to unpack. Everything involving Euron Greyjoy and his dark dark evil, Arianne’s plot to crown Myrcella, the reveal that Doran Martell had a secret Targaryen plan all along and of course the return of Lady Stoneheart. There’s so much there, that although we’re not following our traditional POV characters, I think there’s a lot to dig here when it comes to interesting lore and potential future possibilities for the series! And yes, agreed on Sansa! She’s such an underrated character. In addition to her manipulating Sweet Robin, the way in which she grows into her Alayne personality and gets more comfortable with lying to the Lord’s Declarant, you can tell she’s going to grow into a pretty powerful player in the game of thrones down the line. Anyway, great review as always!

Yes this book was more enjoyable once I'd re-read some of the chapters, so I'm really looking forward to reading the whole book again because I'm expecting I will enjoy it more than the first time round! This book definitely includes additional storylines that don't typically involve the main POV characters, and I agree with you that there's loads of potential for these storylines to progress even further! There's no doubting that George RR Martin is a great author so it's still a fantastic book despite my disappointment in parts. Thanks for the comment :)

I just finished reading this for the first time (August 11th, 2024). I didn't know we were only getting these select POVs in this book and the other POVs in the next, until I finished Feast. Crazy how I didnt know, because it seemed like everyone else knew lol. I wasn't bother by this at all though. This split of the story actually got me so excited to start Dance with Dragons asap. I think I enjoyed the book overall, but I definitely think you're right on about comparing this book, to the prior ones. It's just not on the same thrilling level as the previous few. I do like to think of this book as a book 1 for the next grand story/plot GRRM is setting up. This perspective allows me to respect that GRRM is laying the foundation for the next two books he has to write. I appreciate that you mentioned that this is still good book despite it not being the best in terms of enjoyment.

Thanks for the comment, I'm also unsure how I didn't know prior to reading this that the POVs would be split haha! Yeah I wanted to get the message across that although it's not my favourite book, it's still a great one! Comparing it to the others in the series makes it feel worse than it actually is, but it's natural to compare the book to the rest in the series. I also think that the world-building in this book is necessary, even if it feels very slow-paced.

I had a similar experience in that I didn’t know that the book was missing all of my favorite characters until I was a decent way into the book. I was a bit annoyed as a result but I still enjoyed the book. I’m also a big fan of the Dunk connection.

@@brianjkinney I couldn’t agree more, that’s exactly how I felt. Still a good book but it just felt like a shame that a lot of characters weren’t included in it at all!

AFFC is my favourite in the series
@BeckyDoesBlog2 ай бұрын
@@dablackangel I can see why. Even though it’s my least favourite in the series it’s still a brilliant book and will be better on a reread. This is a true testament to GRRM’s writing that there isn’t a bad book in this series!

What did you think to A Feast for Crows?!
@IndianHeathen19824 ай бұрын
On a reread, fantastic. The broken man speech. Brienne's travels. Looming threat of Euron. When i first read it, 3 stars. After multiple rereads and understanding the antiwar message (crows circling the battlefield), 5 stars.

@@IndianHeathen1982 This makes me even more excited to read it again, thank you. I found it more fascinating when I re-read certain chapters so I’m looking forward to going through it all again and understanding some of the other storylines better!
