Awesome video. I have a dove I've been feeding on my window-ledge. I live in a 1st floor apartment and get great pleasure from calling him/her in the morning for breakfast. Man do they love bird nuts! Sometimes, when I sit on the doorstep for a cheeky cigarette, he'll drop down to the street and eyeball me... Amazing creatures. :)

Just come across your lovely video. Isn’t it an absolute treat when wild birds make contact with us. I love the doves in our garden, especially when they fly to me when I go outside. Thank you John.

Thank for for this video😊 I have a couple of buddies now. One is a bit more timid but it is warming up to me. They will eat next to me and one of them will almost eat from my hand. They come to me when i call them. They are so cute and they study me with curiosity. One almost walked inside when the balcony door was open! I found that they really love walnuts and almonds😊 They give me a lot of joy

Yes you are right....when doves first see you they will be frightened but if you put food out for them and sit some distance away they will gain confidence and stay longer...it takes a while till they realise you mean them no harm, move closer day by day, eventually you can hold the bowl with food in it and they will eat it.

Pkease, what do you think...is it possible ...there is a tree near ma balkony..is it possible one day to come on my balkonu and eat from my heand...as from your's

That's nice, birds will only go to a gentle soul. We have lots of doves here. I built a huge walk in bird cage and we started raising doves, but lately I've been pleading with my wife to just let them go and they will continue coming back, but will live their life naturally. I just shared this video with my wife too. Beautiful post! Mark

It took about a month for them to take food from me but I think they had watched lots of other birds take food from my hands without coming to any harm, they now come from up to a hundred yards away when I whistle them, many thanks for stopping by !

Thanks John. I have a family that has nested right outside my office window. She doesn’t seem bothered when I move the shade to watch. Problem is our house will be pressure washed then painted sometime after the rain stops next week. I wish I could move the nest. What think you.?Be blest ☦️👩🏻🦳🐾. 🇺🇸carla

Nice to see alot of nature lovers in these comments, so many people hate animals like common pigeons and urban foxes, which is sad. I myself have a collared Dove that I have nursed back to health, but it is blind in one eye and am reluctant to let it back into the wild.

Excellent, well done. But I think there is a lot of misunderstanding on how the Collared Dove settled in the UK & to be honest I think the RSPB has it wrong. I flew & bred Collared Doves with my fancy pigeons back in the fifties in Kent & there was also a large avery of Collared Doves in Queens Park Hastings at the same time. I was given my first pair by a Budgie breeder about 1956 ish, he had won them at a caged bird show. The birds were free to come & go as they pleased.

We have lots of this kind of doves here in the philippines. As pet. Its either they are in the petshop. I have that before. But they are elusive . They are not wild. Unlike the original native zebra dove here. And the bleeding heart dove which find here in the philippines. We cannot touch them . Even we get in the wild as pet. They are so ilisive and they dont want to touch them.. That bird you feed, is the same like pigeon
