Love a good festival, not loving the 2 foot crack mind - sounds expensive! Shame to hear is unwell, hopefully an overnight bedrest will cure her and good to see you entertaining yourself under the van😳. Looks like you got some amazing weather and some great aerial footage too, cheers Alan

Thanks so much Brenda. 🙏🙏 Yes, Sue is always advising all of us as a family to drink plenty of water but that day she hadn’t and I forgot to take any on the hike! She was quite poorly till the next morning but all fine now. We’re having such a fun trip otherwise to these little campsites all very close to home!

Thank you H and M 🙏. We have a lot of family history with this particular Spitfire. ML407 “Grace” is based near us. My Dad was a plane spotter for his school in the war and loved Spitfires and so I caught the bug from him. And our daughter saved up for years to buy her now husband a flight in it (it’s a Two seater) - he is a massive plane addict. And then they said for the price of the flight, they would also include a display over their wedding - it was unbelievable! 😃 And then just as we left my Dad’s funeral a year later, by sheer coincidence, this plane was flying over. The plane has a bit of a tragic history too, which makes seeing it very poignant. So we feel we really have a connection - and it was brilliant to be staying on a site near the end of the runway! This motorhome life just gets better! Hope you guys are doing well.

Thanks mate. Yes Sue fine now but was a bit worried about her for a while. We think it was de hydration and heat exhaustion. We had been walking a lot and we did about three and a half miles in the heat that afternoon to go to a little festival. On the way Sue started to feel ill - I had forgot to bring any water so as soon as we arrived our daughter gave us a lift back. So now we always drink a lot of water each day and less coffee! That Sunset was a stunner!!

Let this be your biggest challenge, Dave. By the way, I saw a video somewhere of a guy filling a crack in the glass with some kind of glue and the crack disappeared. I'm pretty sure that in real life it... doesn't work🙂 The sunset was beautiful and of course the Spitfire is a legend.

Ah yes Serge. I think they’re able to repair small dents and cracks but something like this is a replacement. We’re booked in for a weeks time - it’s a bit weird driving and seeing this crack. Luckily it’s not growing and the windscreen place says unless we throw a breeze block through, it will be fine! 😃😃

Thank you guys. 🙏🙏🙏. Yes we had a classic case of dehydration. Took a longish hike in the heat and forgot to take any water. I was fine but just before arrived at the little festival, Sue felt really bad. But by next afternoon she was ok. Amazing how water is so important isn’t it! The Spitfire was a massive bonus on this trip. My Dad loved all old war planes, he was a spotter for his school during the war - so I grew up knowing a lot about them. and then this particular plane has a real family history for us, which we will go into on the next one. It was so wonderful to get the fly past! Have a lovely weekend you guys - stay well and enjoy 👍👍

@@NBNatureTrailvanah Pete will love to hear all that history about the spitfire Dave, will resonate with him as it does with you 💮. We have done that so many times, amazing how the lack of water has such a big effect in such a short period of time, out on the annandale way we definitely had to remind ourselves to stop and drink water 🚰. Glad to hear sue had recovered quickly anyway. Just a shame you guys missed out on the festival

Oh my, that crack may be a little too big to repair...but could be worth a try as not sure what a new one would cost out your way. Ha no secrets Bruce. Just me being silly as usual. Yeo that crack is huge! We have the screen on insurance so a £100 deductible Social Security much rubbish in screens nowadays Bruce. When we phoned they asked Does it have a heated screen? Is it rain sensitive? Does it have a crash avoidance camera? And apparently this Ford one does all that! So we couldn’t get a mobile repair but hey ho wee I’ll just have to take it to a repair centre as they have so many varieties of screen for the same model 🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyway, hope you and Otis are doing well Bruce - hoping to see a new vid soon mate.

Cheers Dave and Sue - there are ups and down when having a van life, but it looks like there are more ups than downs at the end of the day. So looking forward to seeing the full story from these days and hope you have lots of fun at the moment. The Spitfire at the end was brilliant. It looks like a late version with the Griffin engine and those planes were fast for the time, so seeing one in the air is definitely a dream I have! All the best, Ant
@NBNatureTrailvan
@NBNatureTrailvan 3 ай бұрын
Cheers Ant. Yes we’re having a great trip touring around local sites. A few issues but we’re ok again now. That Spitfire is special for us Ant. It’s the Grace Spitfire ML407, a Mark IX with a Merlin engine. Based at Sywell in Northants we see it high in the sky quite a lot around home. But we’ve never seen it up close and personal like that!! I’ve linked it down below. Our Son in Law is an absolute lover of old planes and always had a dream to fly in a Spitfire. So our daughter saved up for years to buy him a flight (it’s a two seater). As they were getting married that year, Carolyn Grace who owns it said that her son Richard would fly it over their wedding for the same price as the flight! It was just so awesome. The plane has a tragic backstory. Richard Grace bought it from a museum in 1979, to try and convert it back to flying. He then flew it many times but was killed in a car crash in 1988😨 So Carolyn, his wife, knew she had to keep it going, and trained as a pilot. Their son, Richard now flies it and that could well have been him flying over head. Again tragically, Carolyn was killed in a car crash 18 months ago. 😨. But Grace still flies!! Anyway, sorry for the rambling reply mate and hope you’re having a good week in the North. www.warbirdflights.co.uk/spitfireflights-1

@NBNatureTrailvan What a story of triumph, sadness and memory that plane has! I see it flew with the Norwegian 332 Squadron for a short time as well. Having it above the wedding must have been stunning and I can imagine the sight of the plane makes memories come alive! Thanks for taking the time to write this and I learned a few things (also that I need to brush up my recognition skill - I was sure it was a Griffin:-) Have a great day travelling about😊
