A trend I've noticed as modern Americans, is we fill our garages storing christmas decorations, bicycles, plastic kayaks, lawn mowers etc. that are relatively cheap, then we leave a couple nice vehicles that cost tens of thousands exposed in the driveway. We don't know how to rank priorities anymore.

We don't have basements like they do in the north. However we park our cars in garage because we have a huge attic and a 3 car garage. My daughter has a car, her husband has a truck and grandson has a truck too. They Have a small attic because they chose a game room instead of big attic. Before you disparage people, think twice. My husband and I have only two cars and no kids at home. In the south and Tex, southwest yu can't dig a basement. There's a huge difference right there. This happens almost every spring, or fall. If expected, My son in law usually drives one car to a parking garage and makes room for one car in garage. But everyone got surprised because Texas has not had rain all summer. So just zip it.

My subdivision will not allow sheds because it destroys the look of our yards. Of course the houses are $ 750,000 and up. We can't park in front of our houses either, because it's a traffic hazard.

I remember one time in Belvedere, Ca, we had a very bad hailstorm. I remember the hail as bigger than what I am seeing here. I was a little kid. After the hailstorm was over I went back inside my house. My mother asked me where I had been in the hailstorm. Actually I had been in my backyard fort for most of it. The hail did not seem to bother that. However, in this storm the hail seems to have had more speed than it did in the one I remember.

Yeah, I hear U, I was just up there this last Father's Day, and went thru 2 storms that produced marble size hail and a few larger pieces that dented the roof and hood on my truck in Denver!!! 🥺 Talk about searching for the nearest car wash!!! LOL 😉 Nobody told me all the parking was on the street!!! 🙄 As far as TX goes, if U live close to Mineral Wells, Rhome, and some of those counties, U'll see a significant amount of hail and Tornadic systems forming, it's the Lower end of 'Tornado Alley'!!!

Not in this video but my grandson in Round Rock said it was golf ball size. He went outside, it damaged two windows on their house and dented both hoods and windows on their trucks. That's not pea size. I don't know where these vids were taken. This is like nickel size.

I remember in 1977, I was in my apartments laundry building and as I started to leave the building someone grabbed my shirt and pulled me back in. Golfball size hail was failing everywhere. My car was a wreck but I was safe. This crap just happens from time to time. Luckily I had insurance.

My grandson waz home alone and said the hail was golf ball size and dented up both trucks and broke the game room window. We are ten minutes east and had 70 mph winds. Everything on our deck landed all over the lawn potted plants fell over, and of course rain. But no hail. We got the wind, my daughters house got hail. It hit again at 2 am.

Anybody that stands by and watches their vehicles get pummeled to distruction is ignorant. Throwing a comforter or thick blankets...even cardboard then a blanket over their vehicles can completely prevent this damage. Ive done it many times...worked every time, while my neighbors sat back and ridiculed me...until i pulled them off and watched them sob. Who's laughing now? Everyone has blankets

There will be discounted cars for sell. The advice of trowing blanket on the car is a good one, it prevents major damage. A friend in San Antonio got hail damaged new car for big/huge discount. Most people have deductible in their insurance plan so unfortunatly there will be cost to restore the damage.

In 2008 I was in the hospital in west Arkansas. Laying in the bed hooked up to everyone socket in the room. All of the sudden we have tornado warnings. Then the baseball size hail started beating the town to a pulp. My wife unplugged me and rolled me into the hallway 😅. Scary and loud.

The video didn't show the large hail sufficient to damage "thousands of cars" unlike the ones I saw in Rapid City in '78/79 that dimpled cars like golf balls. Either the video exaggerates the damage or it happened elsewhere.

We lived in Penasco, NM when I was a child , I remember a hailstorm like this that came out of nowhere. Those things hurt like the devil when they hit you. We were lucky to be able to get to shelter quickly.

I've been in some vicious storms even a tornado and I simply hid my car in a depression and covered it with something and chained on my car cover. By the way, haven't lost a single window and the only body damage was from a coworker who didn't man up that they backed into my car and left three tiny line impressions from the bumper. There is also a company who provides a car cover for hail. Pricey but it's the thought

I've seen hail storms where the hail is more than an inch wide more than once so just explain to me how this is the worst one. Infact it was coming down like snow it was so heavy. It puts dents in the cars I don't see that here.
