Ooh, yes, I can see that... with pine branches and holly berries. I've often combined those with crackle and rust for a great rustic vibe for the festive season. Hope you'll have lots of fun playing with the inspiration. Do tag me in if you're sharing anywhere like Instagram - I love seeing what people get up to!! Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comments. Happy weekend to you.

Hello Alison! Thanks for sharing another session of fun creating these amazing tags - especially since you had to do it twice! 😂 I love the outcome! It’s so vintage and authentic looking, like they’ve been hanging around since the turn of the last century! I love that Tim Holtz tissue paper - another product that I stashed but haven’t used. It seems with every video more and more items get added to my list of creative playtime options fighting for my attention! Since I struggle with decision making, I’m often stuck while deciding what to do so too often instead of being creative, I would THINK about being creative and watch KZbin instead… or shop… or organize! LOL I actually used Art Prompts a few years ago inspired by Rachel Black from the UK (RACHO13) - her and VickyP from Greece is who got me into Art Journaling… although… I don’t actually ‘journal’… anyway… creating the tickets for my Art Prompt Box was definitely a project in and of itself as there are so many supplies and areas of focus - I color coded them LOL Although I’m not quite ready to haul out the box, I have been trying to choose different projects to either finish or catch up on… I did the 6 pages for March YCS 8x8 collage journal last weekend as well as painted 30 cards front and back for my PaperArtsy Tin… I used 10 color combos and did 3 of each. You mentioned in this video that you don’t do Yellow… I love yellow… funny… I don’t do Green although I can handle green grass, leaves, and money! 😊 Since you love green, I had to make your 3 cards a lovely green background - I have them stamped but still need to color the images which I’m hoping to do today. Then I will plan on doing 3 or 6 at a time depending on other projects. I’m determined to finish my 9x12 portrait Dylusions journal that I started JAN2020 so I’ve been doing a page a month (there’s 5 pages left),,, I appreciate you so much and am thankful to actually be creative again. I hope you have a great rest of your day and a wonderful week! Take Care! 🙂

I know the feeling of having so many ideas or half-finished projects that I don't know where to begin! What I usually do is pull out a few supplies and/or backgrounds that are calling out to me that day, put them on the desk and then see where those ingredients take me. I find that starting out by limiting my supplies can actually free up the creative imagination. But it sounds as though you have a good set of project plans in place... if you're still watching YT at this point - stop it, and go and play instead!! Happy Sunday to you.

Thank you for showing your method of sticking down T H tissue paper. I always have a lot of the white paper visible and now know I need to add more water. 😊
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 6 ай бұрын
More moisture will definitely help... don't overdo it though - you don't want to flood the paper! As always, balance is everything... I'm really not squeezing the water brush when I use it, just letting the moisture on the tip rest into the paper. So happy you found this helpful, and thanks for taking the time to comment.

These tags are wonderful and remind me of old photos that were hand-tinted. Now I understand why my Rusting powder never changed color, lol. I assumed that adding the water would turn it into a beautiful textured rust color. I really wasn't going to admit that.

If it's the PaperArtsy Rusting Powder you are using, then just water should give you a bit of an effect after a while, but vinegar will be much quicker and more effective. We haven't covered that yet - only this Distress product version - but there will be more rusty recipes along soon! So happy you like the tags - thank you so much for watching and commenting.

@@w0rdsandp1ctures Thank you the water and a little patience worked well with the rusting powder. The directions had you sprinkle on wet glue then water. That is what didn't work well for me.

Beautiful tags from start to finish. I love yellow but I still held my breath when you used it for sand :) Where I live in NE Florida the beach is the color of rust from so many tiny pieces of shells or the color of Frayed Burlap. I like the antique linen much better.. Thanks so much Alison.

Got this tissue paper, ready to try this. I think its one of Tim's best, such a variety of scenes to create. Btw, I learned a tip, on another ladies video, is to set the tags on a baking rack to speed up drying time. I got a set of small ones off Amazon, just big enough for 2 tags, and rather than taking all day to dry, my crackle tags were ready to use in much less time. Think it's the air being allowed to circulate underneath them.
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 4 ай бұрын
That's a great tip if you're in a hurry... I just generally get something else done while the crackle is doing its business. I think it can also depend on your climate - it's usually just a couple of hours here, if that, for the crackle to dry. And I've got more than enough to keep me busy in the meantime! I agree on the tissue paper - so many fabulous photos to play with. Thanks so much for your company on this creative journey.

Hello!! This is the first time I’ve ever seen you & oh boy, what a delight!! It’s about a million degrees here in the Midwest US, (Kansas is where I live) & a trip to the beach is just a wild fantasy!! Haha! I really enjoyed the look into your cards, you paint a lovely picture! Now I have to go back & learn about rust from you!! Thank you for explaining every step along the way, I can hardly wait to try!! I have the medium, the collage paper, the water brush & the pencils! The only thing I don’t have are any fresco paints. I have chalk paints, & maybe they could work? You mentioned them but said you really prefer your fresco paints. Amazon doesn’t seem to have any. I look forward to learning even more from you & have liked & subscribed. Hope you’re having a great weekend! Erica❤maybe I have all the ingredients for rust…?!❤
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 7 ай бұрын
So happy you found your way here - welcome! - and that you enjoyed yourself so much! Fresco paints ARE chalk acrylics, so any chalk paints you have, or in fact any acrylic paints will work just fine. (PaperArtsy products are not on Amazon because PaperArtsy as a company are very committed to supporting independent craft stockists. So PaperArtsy products - including my own stamp designs - are available from online stockists worldwide, but not from the big corporation sites. There is a stockist list here, listed by country - blog.paperartsy.co.uk/p/find-stockist.html and you can explore their amazing stamps and paints best on their own site shop.paperartsy.co.uk/ if you are curious, and then track them down near you later on if you're tempted!!) If you have the products you listed, then I'm guessing you might well have all the ingredients for this rust method, as it mostly uses Distress mediums. There will be other rusty recipes coming, but I started with Distress since most people have at least some of that in their stash. Hope you continue to enjoy the videos you explore here. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and subscribing.

Glad you like them, thank you. It's a silicone sheet craft mat... this one happens to be from Wow Embossing Powders, a UK company, but any silicone baking sheet will do the same job - this sort of thing: www.amazon.co.uk/TSHAOUN-Reusable-Heat-Resistant-Silicone-Washable/dp/B0BR12RKRY/?th=1 Hope that helps.

I'm so in love with your creations. So beautiful. I have so many family photographs like this that have a lot of meaning. Can I use copies of such photographs printed on copy paper thats not on thick paper? Anyone out there used photographs? Just asking, thank you!
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 2 ай бұрын
You can absolutely use your own printed photos. If you want the crackle to show through when you glue them down, you would need to print the photos onto tissue paper rather than onto copy paper. But there are ways of doing that and running it through the printer (attach the tissue paper with a fine masking tape to the top edge of a regular piece of paper and set it printing) or I believe there are also printable tissue papers available these days. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you - things are a bit crazy at the moment - but I hope that's of some help. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

Happy to hear you are inspired by the artwork here, thank you! If you take a look amongst the Shorts here on the channel, you'll find plenty involving my tag crates, which is where lots of my tags live, for flipping through for inspiration or just for pleasure: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6jOp6CJiLCpmJY Some go into journal pages, or get framed as part of other projects, but for most part they're in the display crates or tucked away in boxes for seasonal display, or just for reference.

These are lovely! I am going to try making some of this rust. I am looking forward for more ways to make it! QUESTION: Could Rub-Ons be used instead of collage paper? Do you think they would work?
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 7 ай бұрын
I can't remember whether I've ever used rub-ons over crackle (seems like something I would do!)... I'm sure it would work, though you might have to be a bit careful as you're rubbing over the surface so as not to loosen the crackle. Give it a go... that's the perfect way to have a few minutes of fun!! Happy weekend to you.

Me again! 😂 can you tell me what that white mat is called that you work on, and/or the best place to find it?
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 3 ай бұрын
I'm ready with the answer to that, since you're not the only one to ask! It's a silicone craft mat by Wow (a UK embossing powder company), and they call it a Premium Embossing Craft Mat - www.wowembossingpowder.co.uk/wow-premium-embossing-craft-mat-2314-p.asp but any silicone or teflon craft mat will do. Ranger produce a non-stick craft sheet rangerink.com/products/ranger-non-stick-craft-sheet and the soft sheet on Tim Holtz's glass media mat is made of similar stuff. You can even use those reusable baking sheets (like these which I take when I'm travelling - www.amazon.co.uk/YQL-30X40cm-Reusable-Transfer-Resistance/dp/B094VQFK93?th=1 ). Basically any waterproof surface will do - or you can use a china plate or palette paper for mixing your paint. This white one is just the one I use for filming. My usual craft mat is a giant version of the brown Ranger one, which covers most of my table. (Unfortunately the independent UK craft stockist which supplied those giant ones closed down but I daresay you could track down something similar with some careful Google searching.) Hope that helps!

How are you making the wire rusty? These are stunning!
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 7 ай бұрын
So happy you like them, thank you. This particular wire was pre-bought rusty... but I also have yards of the stuff which was holding up my sugar snap peas in the garden last year. It went on new, but by the time I cut the finished plants down and unwound the wire at the end of the season, it was perfect for crafting with!

@w0rdsandp1ctures I found some on Amazon. I'm placing an order so I can make these. They are SO cool! I want them for a wall collage of different things I very made. I'm doing it for my craft space. I do vintage stuff with alcohol ink, stamping, and ink lift. This is going to complete my collage.

Apologies as I am only new to your channel and this question must have been asked 1,000 time before. What do you, personally, do with the tags? Do you enjoy them on rings? In Binders? Display them? Or just enjoy the process & forget them? You must have quite the collection now. I am thinking for myself of using them on my cards, in scrapbooks & mixed media, but would love to know what you do.
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it does get asked a lot... but almost nobody else has said sorry - so thank you for thinking of that!! I have now got a prepared answer ready to go, which I've added below - but yes, absolutely incorporate them in scrapbooks and other projects, use them as card toppers, whatever brings you joy! Thanks so much for watching and for your thoughtful comment. As far as "doing" anything with them... I'm not sure what you "do" with any piece of art. For me, the making is the doing. The state of flow I find in creativity, the learning that happens with each creation, the playfulness of exploration, the combining of colours and textures - those are the value for me. Many of my tags live in crates in my studio, for flicking through for inspiration or for pleasure (you can see what I mean in these Shorts - kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6jOp6CJiLCpmJY ). Others come out for seasonal displays during the year. Sometimes I'll create a little tag book, or use a tag (either a background or a finished tag) as the basis for a journal page (you can see that kind of thing here kzbin.info/www/bejne/iorUfYxnorh3qas Occasionally I'll give one as a gift, or as a tag on a gift as an extra gift. But mostly, as I say, it's about the process, and the delight that brings me. I hope that answers your question.
