Me again! 😂 can you tell me what that white mat is called that you work on, and/or the best place to find it?
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 7 сағат бұрын
I'm ready with the answer to that, since you're not the only one to ask! It's a silicone craft mat by Wow (a UK embossing powder company), and they call it a Premium Embossing Craft Mat - www.wowembossingpowder.co.uk/wow-premium-embossing-craft-mat-2314-p.asp but any silicone or teflon craft mat will do. Ranger produce a non-stick craft sheet rangerink.com/products/ranger-non-stick-craft-sheet and the soft sheet on Tim Holtz's glass media mat is made of similar stuff. You can even use those reusable baking sheets (like these which I take when I'm travelling - www.amazon.co.uk/YQL-30X40cm-Reusable-Transfer-Resistance/dp/B094VQFK93?th=1 ). Basically any waterproof surface will do - or you can use a china plate or palette paper for mixing your paint. This white one is just the one I use for filming. My usual craft mat is a giant version of the brown Ranger one, which covers most of my table. (Unfortunately the independent UK craft stockist which supplied those giant ones closed down but I daresay you could track down something similar with some careful Google searching.) Hope that helps!

thank you for actually showing each colour in both ranges on the same substrate and the final result and what happens with the spritz and flick on both. Your style of teaching and showing is so each to watch and listen too..... cant wait for the next one in series please do more of these in the distress ranges and other products too..... we all have the products but sometimes get so overwhelmed with the possibilities they end up stuck on the shelf, your encouragement means the toys finally start to come out of the toybox

I'm delighted to help encourage people to get the toys out of the toy box - what a lovely thought! And yes, I do plan more of these deep dives (crackle was my next thought)... they just take a bit longer to plan and film. It's been a very busy summer, so they keep slipping down my "to-film" list. Hopefully I can get to it during some winter hibernation time! (Though if you enjoy seeing the products in action, you might like this swatching session exploring different ways to apply the Distress Watercolor Pencils - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn6phqBvgpyAma8 - just a thought!) How funny... I've always experienced Cornwall as gloriously sunny (I spent a season at the Minack theatre decades ago, as well as various tours taking in the Hall of Cornwall and other places since then). I've not done much with seascapes (other than in the acrylic paintings in the large square journal... maybe this comment slipped onto this video by mistake, rather than that episode? - because I don't think there were any tempera sticks in this one, either!), so that would take some thought. I love this! Absolutely beautiful! Also, a top tip - if you can get hold of a large acrylic stamping block (the thinner ones), or even a set of clear die cutting plates, you will be able to place your gel plate on it - so pop gel plate on acrylic block/plate - take first pull - remove leaves and then you can “stamp” the remaining leaf plate *exactly* where you would like it, including of course off set a little. These all are wonderful gelli print results. For me working with leaves on the gelliplate gives the most fun. I didn't yet spritz water on acrylic paint, thank you for this idea, I'll certainly give it a play. And 1 or 2 fluid Golden colors must be in my stash once too.
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures Күн бұрын
As you know, I love my Frescos, but as chalk paints they do dry very quickly, so the Golden acrylics definitely give you a slightly more relaxed playtime with the gel plate, as there is more open time. I could mix the Frescos with some extending medium, but that seems a bit of a kerfuffle!! And I've managed very happily with Frescos on the plate... it just means moving with some speed (and of course any water spritzing helps too!).

@@w0rdsandp1ctures I have the idea when seeing others work with open Golden acrylics that it gives a real thin (translucent) but still bright color. Kerffuffle, what a beautiful word that I unexpectedly found the translation for on google translate (it had a dialect atmosphere for me).
