Any used stamp with hinge can be soaked in warm water to get them off. That's what i do. Yes without gum that's funny, perhaps they were for collectors only and not postage.

Thanks for the video, Jeff. Interesting that the Chinese stamps were issued without gum. How would one adhere them to a cover - with "separate" gum? Then sometimes it might be difficult to soak them off paper? Just wondering. Best wishes to you. 🙂

Hi Sharnie, I was thinking about those Chinese Stamps issued without Gum. My stamp identifier listed those few Chinese stamps mentioned in the video as issued without gum. They certainly have no gum and I am not sure on the reasoning - I tried to find out a reason but with no luck. I suppose these stamps could be stuck to the envelope with glue ?? But interesting for sure.

China issues that are issued without gum, how were they adhered? Great video!

Hi Adam - Glue or paste of any type… some countries, including the US, have issued stamps without any adhesive at all! For many years Chinese stamps had no gum. During periods of inflation, entire sheets of stamps were sometimes folded up and used for postage, and one can find envelopes mailed with such sheets as postage … which, for obvious reasons, did not have each stamp cancelled. - Jeff :)

Thank you so much. I have many of the early Chinese issues mint with no gum and had always wondered about that. Really appreciate your channel!

@@jeffsstamps Jeff, I started collecting on Christmas Day 1953 . I guess I have developed a keen eye for details. Seldom rewarded though, but I keep looking.

@@johnwmartin6218 I will have to look more carefully -I seem to get carried away with the overall design and artwork and overlook the small details :)
