I have to tell you, yet again, how much your videos have helped me, and inspired me to try different things, and branch off into areas I'd never normally try on my own. I'm really enjoying myself in this learning process, and hope you will be around for a long time! Mr Holtz will be happy with the sprays I've been purchasing recently, and my leaves are all ready, and waiting, to be put on some yet to be made candle jars. 😊

Hello Allison! So loving listening to your voice…. Watching you do your crafting and creating beautiful projects… can I ask for those of us who may not have all the Tim Holtz colours… can you recommend where possible other colour combinations that you could try as substitutes…. It would be helpful to those of us who are still building on our colour collection. Thank you!
@w0rdsandp1cturesАй бұрын
There are infinite colour combinations, and different ones appeal to different people, so no, I really don't think I can do that! If I recommended other colours, I'm just as likely to mention other colours you haven't got - you know what you've got in your supplies and you need to just play with those colours! Try whatever you have, colour-wise... presumably you chose those colours because you like them. Take them out for a ride together in different combinations. There are no "right" colour combinations and no "wrong" ones. There are people who love putting acid green with orange and bubblegum pink. There are other people who only work in neutrals. Some people will stick to colours that are contrasting, others like colours that sit close to each other in tone. I always feel that asking other people to recommend colours to you is like asking them to tell you what flavours you would like in your ice-cream cone; or what music makes them happy. It's a really personal journey, and it's one you can really only go on by playing, trying, experimenting, exploring and listening to your own internal responses as you try colours together. If you want to try this kind of look, and you don't have the exact colours, you can see I've got a purple, a brown and a grey. Try out whatever you have that is closest to that, or try out something completely different. I know that's basically a "no", but I hope it's of some help regardless. Very happy you are enjoying the videos.

What size are the TAGS PLEASE and where is best place to purchase please thank you
@w0rdsandp1cturesАй бұрын
The ones I use are the same as the Ranger size 8 tags - stampersanonymous.com/ranger-8-manila-craft-tags-ism27973.html - but they are not Ranger ones. I used to bulk buy mine, considerably more cheaply than I've seen the Ranger ones, from an independent online craft store in the UK, but sadly they went out of business last year, unable to continue competing with the likes of Amazon. I am still working through my last box, so when that is nearly empty, I will have to find a new place to buy them. So I can't be much help, sorry, except for the size which you can see if you click on the link.
@merrybrantley4991Ай бұрын
Beautiful! I was wondering what you do with the voluminous number of tags? I unfortunately have no imagination
@w0rdsandp1cturesАй бұрын
Thank you - I'm happy you like them. As far as "doing" anything with them... I'm not sure what you "do" with any piece of art. For me, the making is the doing. The state of flow I find in creativity, the learning that happens with each creation, the playfulness of exploration, the combining of colours and textures - those are the value for me. Many of my tags live in crates in my studio, for flicking through for inspiration or for pleasure (you can see what I mean in these Shorts - kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6jOp6CJiLCpmJY ). Others come out for seasonal displays during the year. Sometimes I'll create a little tag book, or use a tag (either a background or a finished tag) as the basis for a journal page (you can see that kind of thing here kzbin.info/www/bejne/iorUfYxnorh3qas Occasionally I'll use one as a card topper, or as a card just as it is. They can be a gift (with or without a voucher attached) or used as a tag on a gift as an extra little present. But mostly, as I say, it's about the process, and the delight that brings me. I hope that answers your question.
@erindunwell4767Ай бұрын
I noticed in the end result that it looks like you backed the tags, is it just backed on paper that you tore and distressed the edges?

These tags are wonderfully moody and expressive, Alison. I wanted to ask, referring back to “beware of young girls” project, you recently shared, do you have the story in mind before you begin or does the story develop as you create the art? I’m quite curious, as your stories always fit perfectly with your artistic creations. I do enjoy watching and listening to your poetic stance as your pieces develop.
@w0rdsandp1cturesАй бұрын
The stories definitely grow out of what's happening on the craft mat. I don't set out with anything in mind. The Paper Dolls tell me things as I work with them, looking in their eyes, and seeing how they interact with the labels or backgrounds I'm placing them on to. And as I'm photographing a finished project or tag, I often notice extra little details which have cropped up by accident, but which add to the story. It all happens entirely spontaneously and organically. I try not to enquire too closely into the process, as I don't want to get in its way!! Hope that answers your question. Thank you so much for your company on this creative journey.
