You definitely need to go to Bonneville. I've been racing there for 10 years and it changed my life. Enough that I never went back to drag racing.

Great content, got me excited. Talked my wife into a return trip drive of 3,200 miles to the salt lake in Australia where speed events are held, hope she is more impressed than Donna looked 😁Hope it’s dry in March next year. A one way run of 638mph has been done there. Great experience camping in the desert. Think you would be a natural Clay with your pedalling skills, the salts pretty loose. 🦘🇦🇺

Awesome! Land speed racing is alot like drag racing was years ago. I've been to East Coast Timing Association events many times. I hold the first electric motorcycle record ECTA had in their books. They were in Maxton NC , then Ohio. Now they're in Blytheville Arkasas about an hour and a half from Memphis. Check it out. It's your Home Track for LSR

Clay , it is just like a burnout but for a mile. You never hook up. You just try to keep it from spinning out, and go 200+. I have many times back in the 80's

You're in my old stomping grounds Clay, the beautiful Mojave Desert. When you're a teenager in SoCal into off roading, El Mirage would be on your list of places to camp for the weekend. I've left dirt tracks over every square mile of that desert, lots of houses where we used to go riding now. Fantastic dirt trails in that area, you would rarely ride on the lake bed, brings back memories man...

First for me too Clay but very interesting too. I have heard of and seen videos of salt flat racing but by trying to break land speed records way back in the day but this is very different.

i got into land speed stuff from watching team Aardema Braun. They build their own engines from scratch, they make such cool engines.OHC SBC, 6L V12, 20 liter V12 etc. Greg Quirin has it on his youtube channel.

Not a 1st for me. 1st race car I ever sat my butt in was Tom Beatty's Belly Tank. Early 1958. I was 2. Dad and Tom were old buddies from when Tom worked for Barney Navarro and dad drove Barney's track roadster. I have pics of me sitting in that yellow belly tank in your video. Besides. I can see the Shadow Mountains above the lakebed from my house.
