@jsmallwood2007 crazy, that size! but yes, bi us in switzerland ist it in one region,near the lake "constance" traditional, that the people there eat smaller perch with bones and somtimes with the head (prepared in the fryer). thanx for answer and tight lines! and sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand me!

@jsmallwood2007 Thank you! but this is extreme, the european smelts, that i catch in switzerland are never bigger than 25 cm, that means 5 inches! the record is nearly 30 cm (6 inches). how long was your biggest smelt?

Wrong . 30 cm is 12 inches .25 cm is 10 inhes

I remember catching these by the bucketful when I was a kid. We used a net and were done in about 2 minutes. Cleaning them was easy too, and they sure are tasty deep fried in beer batter.

@jsmallwood2007 yeah id like to try a sword. none of those in the gulf. we had tuna chasing our longline gear this fall..pretty scary cuz i haul by hand. and one mistake id be goin 50 km//h down Davey jones' locker
