Ennio Morricone was pure genius. His songs played at the beginning of the trilogy movies set the tone for the next two hours of viewing. All three movies were filmed without sound. All dialog and sound effects were added later. But during filming of certain scenes, Sergio Leone would have the music playing on set, to get an idea of where and when he was going to add the music in the final cut. Clint was offered the role in the 'sequel', For a Few Dollars More, but he had not yet seen the first movie. He was a bit reluctant so they sent him the movie but only in Italian language, with complete musical soundtrack. He had a showing for some execs and told them not to expect much. After the movie was over, people were applauding. Even though they had not understood the dialog, they were impressed with the tone of the movie, the directing, the acting, and the soundtrack had them all very impressed. He immediately notified Sergio that he was willing to do the sequel.

My appreciation and respect of classical guitar playing just sky-rocketed, I play a version of this on my electric and its "ok", but this is good stuff here. Ever take a shot at "Death Rides a Horse"? I have, and failed, even though it sounds quite simple, I'm pretty sure I'm missing something simple and/or stupid to somebody with a different background/style. If you had any hints you could drop...:-) Aside from that, once again I have to express respect for this talent, this sound, wow man.

So, if I can give you a hint I could say that you have to believe the most you can in yourself, then you must have a child curiosity to find your own ways. Obviously the technique is important and we have to play a lot to increase our skills, but to be different you should try to create your own things. Try to play something you think it's beautiful for you and then people will feel that when they hear you. I make all my arrangements using my ears... at the beginning it was a bit hard, but then it became more natural and my ears are my loyal judge to decide if something is good or not to show. So, I hope this can help you somehow, my friend. Cheers!
